Mine is Lacan. He was French and liked words and talking about having sex with mothers.

2nd is probably Kant because apparently he used to strap his cock down to stop erections during the night so he wouldn't have inpure thoughts.

Meopham, Kent.
Stephen Fry, genius, and very funny. Marvellous combination.

I like Meades Ball because he lives in a universe just around the corner from ours.

The great Claude Lévi-Strauss. 97 years old and still going.

Why are the most recent ones all French? Lacan, Derrida, Levi-Strauss.

Perhaps you should define who constitutes an intellectual Les.

Whatever you like really, I imagine most are academics, but Stephen Fry was a good one. Some artists, muscians and directors could be in this bracket also I suppose.

If it includes people that made me think (cue jokes). I'd choose Douglas Adams.

Claude Levi-Strauss was a popular French anthropologist most well-known for his development of structural anthropology. He was born on November 28, 1908 in Belgium as the son of an artist, and a member of an intellectual French Jewish family.

Make of that what you will.
