I was shocked to learn on Saturday Morning Live sometime before Christmas that what we think is vinegar in the chippies is non brewed condiment in a lot of places. Which is basically water, acetic acid, flavourings and colouring.

Garlic mayo for me too, and it's not even on the list. Either that or Fritessause (sp?) / Bordelaise (sp?) also not on the list.

Good question, the chip is very versatile, From the chip shop, just salt and vinegar, sometimes tomato sauce, chips from a Chinese take away, always curry sauce, indoors, mayonnaise and some times gravy if there's a pie on the plate,,,, its a tough one...

I still use a proper, old fashioned chip pan on a gas ring.

Chips without danger are no fun!
