However, is our only truly original chant/song GOSBTS? If so, it's a bit sad that we (me included) don't know a few verses to sing and even when we do sing it, it quickly descends into an uncoordinated frenzy of clapping - even under a roof.

We need a proper anthem (a Blowing Bubbles, Valley Floyd Road, Delilah), something that lasts longer than 15 seconds and is just ours. Updated, or relevent verses of GOSBTS would be my fav (ie exclude the verse about farming!)

1.)we are brighton! You dont hear that enough down in C block

2.) sussex by the sea. More people should learn the la la la la la la, bit of the song, most people only join in at the 'and we r goin up to win the cup' bit

scotty m - in fairness you're right... in the GG North Stand it was awesome. in recent years tho, it seems people want to sing it quicker and quicker.

although i love the hummed intro, don't remember that from my time at GG (94 onwards)

we REALLY should introduce this verse tho (think this is correct)

We're the men from Sussex
Sussex by the Sea
You can tell them all
That we'll stand or fall
For Sussex by the Sea

Quality. They sung it during WWII didn't they?

Best - We are Brighton

Worst cringeworthy and SOOO unamusing was - "6-5, we're gonna win 6-5" or any varation of that scoreline when we are losing badly, it's just such a crap and feeble chant.

There used to be a version of 'Posh Spice is a slapper' for just about every member of the team, most of them outrageously obscene. 'Watson', for example, was rhymed with 'spots on', and I'll let you guess which bit of Victoria was so affected.

The one that Plymouth fans sing at Withdean makes me chuckle:

'You Dirty Northern Bastids'

Apart from that 'Hit The Bar (Hit The Bar, Hit The Bar)'

might stir things up a bit, but the la la la la la la la bit as you refer to, has actually spoiled the song, back in the 70's/80's we just burst into good ole sussex.....etc etc, with the peak being the altogether now bit....

now sadly the song is so high in pitch by the time we get going, the song tends to peter out too early.

Well thats an older view anyway.
