I am reading a construction paper and it states that planning for a £46million new stadium has been approved. Did you know this already? Or it may be the idea has been approved I don`t know.

Probably just means 'approved by Brighton and Hove City Council'

Prescott is still deciding whether he'll overrule this approval or not.

Planning was approved locally without too many problems at the start. It's the fact it was called in for a public enquiry that has caused all the delays.

No need, CB, I already know the design team.

What on earth brings you to be reading CJ? I gave up reading paper versions years ago and stopped altogether when the website went subscription.

I am familiar with Contract Journal (I used to work in publishing specialising specifically relating to the construction inducstry). The tender highlights section is - believe or not - sometimes quite interesting. I also used to work for a sister company of a firm called Glenigan (based in Bournemouth). They specialise in letting the industry know about certain tenders for certain contracts which may be coming up.

As this is not a project sponsored by the public sector, I would be surprised that Contract Journal is putting this in there, because if we did have approval, then the sponsor (the Albion) would be shouting Prescott's 'YES' decision from the highest rooftops. Also, the project is now valued at over £50m.

Which leads me to one of two conclusions...

(a) CJ is jumping the gun or
(b) Croydonbloke is talking out of his rear end.

Could we see the snippet, please Croydonbloke?

Alternatively, perhaps an email to Martin Perry may clear this up.

I've just realised it was Construction News that went subscription, so I've searched on the Contract Journal website using the keyword "Falmer" and come up with zilch in the last 3 months.

What issue are you reading CB?

Construction News - aah, that takes me back.

As compiler of series of building trade price books, they used to phone me up every other month and ask for my opinion on trends in the movement of prices of building and plumbing materials. Blimey, what a life I used to lead...

You lot obviousy don't read all the posts.
My thread was on here last week stating that Contract Journal had in their 03.08.05 edition under Business Alert, Planning, the following:-

BRIGHTON £46M.

Detail approval Community stadium with business use, educational and conference facilities, shop for club merchandise, food and drink uses, parking and transportatin facilities.
SOUTH of Village Way.
Client: Brigton & Hove Albion Football Club
Architects: KS Architects. Westminster.

Have item in front of me now.

Two things puzzle me. a) Why do they say South when the current application is for Villge Way North. b) The timing of including in paper as Business Alert!!

you are totally correct...I do not read all the posts on NSC because a vast majority are cr@p.....written by little boys about rubbish like big brother or what colour underpants are best.
SO I look for relevant titles that might interest me ie Falmer...

so my humble apoligies for not reading all the cr@p
