Fair play to the Plymouth fans.....

...for singing after the 2nd goal went in "Top of the league, we're 'avin' a larf" :lolol: :lolol: :lolol:  Even some of the mummified corpses in Block E had a smile on their face after that and were applauding.

It makes a real difference when the "away end" is packed out and up for it. What a difference the new stand will make to the atmosphere at Withdean by bringing them closer to the South Stand.

But will Leeds bring their full allocation to Withdean next season do you think? :smokin:

What of? Fans or players? :)

The Plymouth fans certainly contributed to the atmosphere and were still singing at the end.

Marvellous scenes.

I was surprised to see Michael Foot in the Plymouth crowd. He is 90 now and his shirt bears that number. Does anyone know whether he lives on/comes from the South Coast?

He lives in London but is long-standing Plymouth fan The Foots originate from the west country, I think that nephew Paul is a fan as well.

I'm not sure, but I believe that Michael was actually a director at one point.

He was awarded the 90 shirt for his birthday this year. Fair play to him, long may he thrive.

The whole atmosphere was great and it does help when the away fans sing as well.

They knew they were well beaten and still sang.

True fans

I, too, thought the Plymouth fans were great and they took their defeat honourably. I saw enough in the second half to convince me that they will probably be going up. Let's hope that we're there with them.

I said in August at Plymouth away how great there fans were. We were made to feel most welcome in the pub on the corner of the ground and had a few drinks/chat with some Plymouth fans. They even escorted us to our part of the ground.

How pleased I am that if we cannot win the league it will be Plymouth Argylle with their great set up and wonderful fans instead of those hate filled disgusting rascist scum at QPR.

Here, here, Gareth. Remember when we won promotion to Div 2 a few years ago at Home Park....when the Plymouth fans clapped our side off the park? Brought tears to my eyes then and still does. A great bunch of fans who do their club proud.

Thought it was a bit rotten of the announcer saying 'Please welcome the teams...', The Argyle fans let fly with their balloons and ticker-tape and then the teams didn't appear for another couple of minutes.

Fair play to the Plymouth (ARGYLE) fans

Thanks for your comments.

It was always going to be a difficult game Benjamin was a strong threat.

There can be little doubt that your strength is in knowing how to play in an open stadium, if as suggested above we played you every week, we would perhaps have done better. 2nd half showed that.

Mr Foot is still a director, and at 90 attends 99% of all games.

Do you have to play Bristol City at home? If so please beat them. QPR are it appears a lost cause, so play hard and get promotion with us, and good luck with your new stadium, the conditions for away fans were terrible, so far from the pitch, thank goodness it stayed dry!

Semper Fidelis! :bounce:

I knew this would happen, i've just got back from Brighton and the merchants of doom were bound to have surfaced in droves through the evening.

I'm not entirely knocking you miserable gits as I did the same thing after the D&R game. In the normal scheme of things we go to a pub after the game or make our way home, by the time we get near a keyboard we've chilled out considerably. It's perhaps inevitable therefore that more 'gut reactions' surface after a game watched in the comfort of ones homes.

As you may have noticed I hate the twin towns of Brighton & Hove, I live locally so will suffer at work on Monday more than most of you too. Yet if I can be quite chilled about it all the rest of you should. Even after the game I was less upset than I was at Loftus Road.

If the second half matched the first half it might be different, we were pish 1st half. In fairness to the boys I have to give a non-armchair perspective on the weather conditions. The wind was all over the place, one minute advertising hoardings were falling backwards, the next they righted themselves (I kid you not!), the wind was a massive influence, If Buster were playing we'd have lost him over the channel. The difference in the first half was Brighton knew how to play there we didn't, our passing was all over the place. We 'murdered' them 1-0 once we got used to it.

Bottom line is we're still 5 points clear. Looking at it from the overall perspective we were not expected to get anything today but QPR were expecting to get something from Chesterfield and BC will have to go to Grimsby in their already difficult run-in and who's to say their white hot form will still be so by then?. Overall then we didn't just stand still we came out with a better set of results than could reasonably be expected.

Other points about today...

Respect to Jim Brock whom I had the pleasure of standing next to, he is mental (in the nicest possible sense of the word). I hope he got home OK as we feared for the safety of a semi naked young man in possession of Vasaline (seriously, WTF?) in Brighton.

Thanks to my fellow pub crawlers for your company, Carr and Nicholson >> what happened there?. The hen weekenders, nubile barmaids and Thai meal afterwards just completed a great day (result apart).

Our chant of the day "Top of the league and havin' a laugh". Brightons chant of the day "Top of the league, you're having a laugh". The fact we joined in when they 'taunted' us with it left them somewhat confused, I don't think Irony and self-deprecation have made it to Brighton yet

My views on the 'culture' (see mold) of the place confirmed on the walk back to the station. A skinhead in combats, platforms and a korean embroidered jacket falls ar5e over t1t at the feet of a male couple snogging, a new-age wino pushing a pram containing a dog walks past doing some Bobby Ferrin style human beatbox as a Rastafarian offers dope to passers by. The place is full of freaks, we should all be glad that at least we don't live there.

Top of the league and don't forget it

Interesting views there.

I think the guy is a total tit! Typical single brain celled moron from the arse end of the country (excuse the terminology).

We were confused? Irony hasn't made it to Brighton? What hospital is he on day release from?

Male couple snogging in Brighton-what the fcuk do they do in Plymouth then? Shake hands and then shag each other? Oh yeah, I forgot-you only find gays in Brighton.

I hope the numbskull has a truly shit day tomorrow and is taunted relentlessly by any and all of the BHA fans he knows.

Oh and I hope they thank him for the 4 points we've taken off them this season:salute:

I wasn't sure whether they were taking the piss out of themselves or actually saying there having a laugh. Although the second one would be a bit strange.

I remember a similar thing at Brentford: "You're top but we don't know why" to which sang, "we're top and we don't know why".

I have to agree with what Yorkie said alst week. IF any away team brings their full allocation its amazing what the gate does. 6,300 for a horrible horrible night when it was on the box? Excellent turn out in my opinion.
I hope Plymouth win the league as gthey are the best team I have seen (saturday excpeted) and have a good following. Also turned their ground around instead of just moving to a new 1.
