There could be millions of gallons of fuel on that site, that could burn for days.

I was woken up this morning at 6 by a strange rumbling noise. The flat shaked a bit so I thought that maybe it was the people above banging around or something, I can only assume now that it must have been the explosion.

I live in north London at least 10-15 miles away so it must have been seriuosly big.

Switch on BBC1 and watch/listen for yourselves to eyewitnesses.

All these people are ringing up the news channels saying they heard a low plane overhead just before the explosion. YOU LIVE 5 MILES FROM LUTON AIRPORT YOU FUCKWITS!
Also why cancel MOTD. They could have at least moved it to another channel.

This looks very bad but so far no fatalities so the oil depot can't have had many people working - thankfully.

When this type of horrendous disasters happen why do News people bang on about "please send us your photos etc".

I thought that was what news people were for ?

Speaking as a News Person... it's because it takes half an hour for a crew to leave central London, get to the scene, and start sending live pics back. In the mean time, there's half an hour of News 24 and Sky to fill, and it's not very interesting to talk about a big fire for half an hour while looking at a picture of a map.

But you're right... there's too much of it that goes on these days.
