Have a requirement for a cheap tablet. 7 inches is too small ( ooh er missus) and must be cheap, so please no comments re save up and get an ipad.

3g not necessary.

Seen reference to Time and sumvision, archos etc.

Anyone got any experience with these super cheap models ?

Bought an Archos thingummy for my daughter for Christmas. It was complete shit - even she thought so (but didn't say so in so many words) - it went back.

A Blackberry Playbook may be a solution for you.

The old discontinued HP Touchpad is excellent. Does everything required and you can now install Android on it to avoid using the base HP operating system.

A Blackberry Playbook may be a solution for you.

Nah! Playbooks are awful only useful if you are a blackberry user using bes. They might be a little bit more useful now though given that they support certain Android apps. Don't be fooled though it still uses RIMs OS.

Not played with one myself but the Kindle Fire has got some pretty decent reviews, just hope they are more stable than the second gen kindle (my brother in law is on his third and I've just knackered one! Fantastic customer support though, have replaced no questions asked each time. Guess companies are learning from Apple!!).

Obviously at the price it is not going to be an Ipad beater, but what is wrong with it and what if anything is right about it.
