Dumb iPod question

I've been through two computers in the time I've had my iPod, with the result that I no longer have an iTunes database with all my songs on it. They now only exist on my iPod.

If I connect my iPod to my latest computer, and try to 'sync' the two, will all the music on my iPod be wiped? Or will it copy across into the iTunes folder on the computer?

I'm just nervous of trying it, in case the former happens. It would be a pain to lose 7000+ tracks...

It will try and sync it with your new computer, and wipe all your songs.

There is a program you can use to transfer all your songs over from your ipod to your new pc, can't remember for the life of me what it is called! I should know, I only did it a month ago!

Use the 'Help' links in iTunes.
I transferrd my whole library using the ipod as a stoarage device.
The instructions in iTunes are simple to follow - lots of pictures!

There are a number of programs available and I am certin some of them will do what you want,

Amarok
Banshee
Floola
gtkpod
MediaMonkey
Rhythmbox
SharePod
Songbird
Winamp

All of those are free, but there are others like Anapod, Poddox that you pay for, they deffo allow you to copy back to your computer from iPod.
