Do Football Pitch Markings HAVE to be White?

after seeing Portman Road last night, it got me thinking maybe we could be trend setters going into The AMEX.

Instead of white, we could permenantly have something different. Blue like Ipswich yesterday, maybe pink, or maybe the colours of the PRIDE flag.

Is there a rule against having a different colour other than white. The blue was also clearer than the white

What colour would you go for given the choice?

Agree. White lines can sometimes be extremely difficult to see, considering of ice/snow on the pitch, white isn't that clear at all. Also when some pitches get cut up the white also fades so then becomes difficult. Also saw the blue at Portman Road last night, and though it was very clear and a very good idea.

Not sure about colours, but while doing a coaching course about fifteen years ago, was told the maximum width was 5 inches, with, strangely, no minimum width specified

So long as the pitch markings are distinctive to that of the match officials, the pitch markings can be of any colour.
