Bumbling Boris Lied.
Red Ken Lied.
The next London Mayor will be.......A Liar.

All the same. Promises, promises, empty promises.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. The hypocricy of the governments transport policies & the lack of investment into viable alternatives as well as the government actually promoting cars as the mode of preferred transport so that they can tax the bollocks off us all is just a joke. Can you imagine if people did leave their cars at home where would the revenue come from? I wonder just how much money the government derives from the car.

Depends.

Perhaps he had every intention of scrapping the charge, got elected went about scrapping it and then discovered it was more beneficial than he realised, and changed his mind.

Perhaps he still wants to, but there is red tape and lots of hoops to jump through to actually go through with it.

Or perhaps he had no intention and was lying from the start. But it still being there doesn't necessarily mean he was lying. Same with a lot of promises politicians make during campaigns.

viable alternatives like what, sir?

ask the merry mancunians about viable alternatives, we could've had a shiny new metro system being built right now, spreading to all corners, connecting the affluent with the deprived, getting cars off the road.

except, they think this all comes free, so when they heard that the people of Manchester would have to pay for these trams via a congestion charge, they went mad and voted NO to progress and municipal development.

cars are a luxury, luxuries should be taxed.

In answer to the original question Yes he did say he would repeal the congestion charge. Then he was told what a nice little earner it was.

Do you live in London or drive there ? If not why do you care ?

He said very early on he couldn't get rid of it until the spring of this year. So he's not late yet... When he saw what a shed-load of money Livingston had borrowed to stick multiple cameras on every street corner, he may have had to revise his plans.

You can easily tell when politicians are telling lies - their lips move.
