Decent Running Shoes

Does anyone know of the best place in town to buy a decent pair of running shoes. Not looking to break the bank but get a sturdy pair. cheers

Jog Shop bit old school but guys a legend, will get out about 10 different trainers that compliment your running style and let's you try them on without a rush and helps you narrow them down. I got some mizuno wave 6 from there (slight overpronator) and they're absolutely perfect. I used to get aches to my knees with my old trainers, no problems now!

I was incredibly unimpressed with The Jog Shop last time I was in there.

The Jog Shop is in Kemp Town off St James' st and is a jumble sale and is not great service, they'll sell you anything.

RUN on Blatch rd in Hove is by the best and only viable alternative anyway unless you go to Sportsworld. RUN will fit you for the correct shoes that suit your running style after watching you run (they'll video you too) and its no more expensive than internet when you factor in delivery cost.

Great guys in there who love running and will talk about it for ages.

This is the reason people should go to Run (apart from the quality merch, of course). Those guys in there really know their stuff, and are more than happy to talk for quite literally hours about it if you want to. Just getting into running? Experienced marathon runner? They can help you out with any questions.

And no, I'm not on commission I'm just passionate about non-corporate local shops like Run, especially when the level of service is above and beyond that of any other place around.

Buy a copy of Runners World & get a pair from one of the many retailers advertising in there. They do great deals & you can save a fair few bob.
You need to know what you want though; for instance I need extra cushioning so I go for Nike Pegasus or Asics Nimbus.
I got my last pair of Nike+ Pegasus 30 quid cheaper than in Jog Shop doing the above.

RUN is excellent. An assistant will watch you run down the street, look at your balance, then let you try various trainers that give support or otherwise to suit your particular style. In the end, the trainers that best suited me were cheaper than many, but we hadn't got to price at that point, they had merely got the ones that suited.

Another vote for Run! I wouldn't go anywhere else. He made me run round the block to make sure the shoes were right. I was bloody knackered after!

Prepared to get shot down in flames on this one, but when I was in Sports Direct last week, I noticed they have started selling decent brand running shoes, e.g. ASICS, New Balance etc at reasonable prices. No good for me, as I need an extra wide fitting, but anyone who knows their requirements, could save a few quid.

However if you have any doubts follow the advice above and go speak to the experts. Running shoes are an investment, as the world is your gym and there is no subscription fee.
