Well, if that's the most insulted you felt after about two and a half hours coverage including the post-match, that's not too bad.
It was mostly a Five Live eulogy to Brighton, the performance on the night, and what is going on at the club generally from commentators and pundits alike.
The other poster was right, he didn't say what you have quoted him as saying, he was talking about sustaining it. And whether it's to do with being by the sea or not, he's at least partly right. This is the first time since the mid-late 70s that there is even a CHANCE we could go on to fill a 30,000 ground, and our crowds badly tailed off at the Goldstone in the mid-80s when we were still a decent Championship team, and before all the big terrace areas were closed.
After years of getting 3,000, 4,000, 6,000 there is a question mark over our support. We are answering it emphatically, but no one really knows how much bigger it can realistically go, and we'd probably need 25,000-30,000 to make a decent go of the Premier League if we ever got there.

The guy is in the Sanity Departure Lounge and has been for a while. His opinion is pure conjecture and should be ignored. Our current success has already produced a waiting list of 700+ for ST's. I wonder how many more will join the list as we march forward this season. Stupid old fossil. FAIL.

I heard him wabbling on about us having a lack of chimney pots in the place, or some such bollox. I think he's officially gone senile.
One odd thing he did say - with that sort of knowing chuckle in his voice - was that away sides play with just one up top and play very negatively. He said this a few times whilst making reference to the Brighton game and when askin the commentators their view. Everyone ignored him because it was embarrassing. Particularly as Brighton are so far from a negative side it is hard to believe. We're so going forward that they were astonished when Gus brought on Navs!

In all fairness to Pleat there has not been any seaside tourist resorts in the country that have achieved any sustainable success in many years.
And great we got 20,000 against Donny. However, we never sold out the Goldstone once in 4 years in the top flight.
Have times changed? Will we get 30,000 at home?
