There is a piece in tonight's Manchester Evening News about the stick McManaman is getting from fans... and one of his team mates is defending him. It reads:

"DAVID JAMES leapt to the defence of team-mate Steve McManaman tonight..."

I wouldn't want David James leaping to my defence. He'd go the wrong way.
