David Gold has confirmed that he has been approached about investing in Albion.
Gold said that he will be looking for a "new challenge at a club in the south" if and when his involvement with Birmingham City comes to an end.
He said: "I can confirm that people who have contacted me are not members of the board, although they are close to Brighton."

The Argus revealed three weeks ago that Gold is likely to sever his links with Birmingham when an ongoing takeover of the Premiership club by Hong Kong-based businessman Carson Yeung is completed, which could be as early as next month.
Multi-millionaire Gold, who has set up home in Hurstpierpoint with his future wife, has been chairman at St Andrew's for ten years after buying the club with David Sullivan in 1993.
He added: "I still feel I have a lot to offer. I have been Birmingham chairman for over ten years and have secured promotion on three occasions, won the Auto Windscreens at the old Wembley and been to Cardiff for the League Cup final with a club we saved from administration.
He said: "If and when I leave Birmingham City it is my intention to pursue a new challenge in football.
"I hope that this new challenge will be as chairman of a club in the south but it would be inappropriate at this time for me to state a preference."
Speaking to The Argus, Gold has also applauded chairman Dick Knight and the club for gaining planning permission for a new stadium at Falmer.
He added: "It was a heroic battle and everyone involved including the directors and The Argus have to be congratulated for their efforts."
