Wherever The Mood Takes Me
David Gold has confirmed that he has been approached about investing in Albion.

Gold said that he will be looking for a "new challenge at a club in the south" if and when his involvement with Birmingham City comes to an end.

He said: "I can confirm that people who have contacted me are not members of the board, although they are close to Brighton."

The Argus revealed three weeks ago that Gold is likely to sever his links with Birmingham when an ongoing takeover of the Premiership club by Hong Kong-based businessman Carson Yeung is completed, which could be as early as next month.

Multi-millionaire Gold, who has set up home in Hurstpierpoint with his future wife, has been chairman at St Andrew's for ten years after buying the club with David Sullivan in 1993.

He added: "I still feel I have a lot to offer. I have been Birmingham chairman for over ten years and have secured promotion on three occasions, won the Auto Windscreens at the old Wembley and been to Cardiff for the League Cup final with a club we saved from administration.

He said: "If and when I leave Birmingham City it is my intention to pursue a new challenge in football.

"I hope that this new challenge will be as chairman of a club in the south but it would be inappropriate at this time for me to state a preference."

Speaking to The Argus, Gold has also applauded chairman Dick Knight and the club for gaining planning permission for a new stadium at Falmer.

He added: "It was a heroic battle and everyone involved including the directors and The Argus have to be congratulated for their efforts."

The old boys at St Dunstan's. That's who approached him.

Look at the evidence - not on the board and close to Brighton.

Is there any more unlikely candidates that would fit that description?

Not members of the Board but close to the Albion? Could be me or you, or you, or you.....

If I was Dick Knight I would be really p off with this. Does it mean that there are others out there who are waiting to make a takeover bid for the club and oust Dick? That would be so very wrong. Knight has done so much for this club and does not desrve to be thrown out at this stage.

Yes Dick Knight has done a lot for our local team but he has been unable to build a team that would make Falmer worth attending.Gold`s interest has come about due to the fact that an Asian group are ready to take over Birmingham. He cant make it any clearer that he would step in at Brighton, the board must indicate he would be very welcome ,what a prospect after the recent dismal years.

One of the advantages of Pende it is bigger than Falmer, bigger than Birmingham, twice the size of the Manchester United lands.

Oh yes, and I see you have built in something for the women to do while the game is on:

"New addition (October 2007) Ann Summer retail store. Something sexy for the girls!"

ALTERNATIVE ALBION STADIUM PLAN at PENDE

The first thing that strikes you is the unique stunning stadium is its picturesque surroundings, whether you arrive by train (the railway station links directly to the entrances), car, or by private aeroplane. The small airfield is within walking distance. Parking is easy and convenient (5000 parking spaces) with an easy uninterrupted route to the major trunk road network (A27) and the railway station is adjacent to the magnificent stadium. Spectators arriving by ferry will usually have to take the direct train from Newhaven, (or by direct train from Portsmouth) although berthing is available for smaller vessels in the nearby harbour. Spectators arriving by charter plane or commercial flights are advised to board the direct train from Gatwick Airport. Because the train links are excellent, this is the recommended travel method for long distance spectators but there are coach parking facilities. There is a special cycle route to the stadium connected to the Sustrans cycle network.

Because of the large crowds it is advisable to arrive early to soak up the atmosphere. Pay at the entrance is available but it is cheaper to pay in advance. Restaurants and cafe's are superior to motorway service stations. Allow time to visit the specialist shops. Cheapskates can park in the factory car parks to save some dosh but it means a longer walk along the linear park and by ornamental lake and conservation area.

There is a choice of stands. The home Kop is behind one of the goals and the executive stands at the side with the saloon bar in relaxed surroundings at premium costs. Opposite is the stands for the chicken run supporters with a public bar selling a selection of beers and ciders. And there is a separate family enclosure. Visiting supporters are confined to a separate end but there is a premium section at the side of the ground (if they behave themselves).

Conferencing facilities and executive boxes are planned when the hotel is completed. Sports and leisure facilities are available during the week but not on match days.

During the summer, concerts are held every week. Extensive camping facilities are available within walking and cycling distance.

Police surveillance for crowd control on the approaches is by police helicopter from the adjacent airfield, and by policeman on horseback from the adjacent horse paddocks.

The are even facilities for invalids and older supporters arriving by electric buggy. They can zoom in and park their buggy underneath the stand with the escalator.

The view of the perfect pitch is unimpeded although sufficient space has been allowed for the construction of a dry moat if the European match regulations demand the extra security.

Perseus, I clearly did not grasp quite how deluded you are on this thing.
Are you a nutter ?
