This looked like good business when we let him go. It's looking f***ing wank now, isn't it? I see he set up a last minute winner for Cardiff tonight, to go with the overall good form he's put together since joining them. I hope he reverts to type soon because that trade is making us look like complete mugs.

Oh and Glenn Murray - he scored tonight too.

For f***'S sake.

Ladies and gentlemen, if anyone is in any doubt as to what a knee jerk reaction is, please note this ramble from Simster.

Good work.

If Orlandi and Buckley stay fit and Lua Lua can step up then the business is still ok for us.

However, None of the above has happened yet

I am not saying it was the wrong decision, I am saying that Noone has started off well at Cardiff, at a time when we can't buy a goal and a time when the manager doesn't seem to trust one of our wingers to EVER start a match. Not so much knee jerk as fact really.

No, I think it's a knee jerk. I'm often wrong, so I may be here as well but I said at the time that Noone would do very well at Cardiff because he won't be trying to hit one player in the area. Cardiff play with two up front and with midfielders actually trying to get into the box as well, he has more options and so doesn't have to be so precise with his delivery.

I always thought he was the wrong type of player for our system. Orlandi is the right type, if we can get him fit regularly then we'll both have produced a minor miracle and improved the team. All the time Orlandi is injured and Noone is producing, it's going to look pretty foolish by Gus.

But ultimately, the decision to give all the League 1 winning players new contracts is the REAL mistake. I'm sure Gus would have liked to be able to move on Sparrow, Dicker (maybe not actually!), Painter, Brezovan etc to free up the funds for the striker we didn't end up signing.

I never saw your comment as a knee jerk reaction.....sometimes a player just performs better after a move....I was disappointed to see him go...but there were a fair few who said he had no end product ...well he seems to have found one for now

And while we aren't scoring the Murray debate will always be around

Not for me. Whenever we play football, the Murray debate flies around my head. It's not a debate for me, it's an admission he is what we miss. Now that Freedman has gone from Palace, maybe the Murray deal can be on again?!

I'm not too fussed about Noone. Yes he was a character and wasn't injured as much as Lua Lua or Buckley, but his end product was never really any better either. As was mentioned by someone else in another thread- in time, Orlandi and David will hopefully deliver what Noone never could for us.

I was at the Cardiff/Watford game last night. Noone played his typical game, beat people for fun got into the right area's and then failed to deliver. Fantastic for excitement but then the final cross or attempted shot again not good enough. He had a breakaway late in the second half when Watford down to 9 players, easy one on one with the keeper and put it wide.

In the casino after the game the Cardiff faithful were not complimentary about him and were talking about how they understand why we let him leave. Me, i still would have him in the squad as an impact player, he lifts the crowd but really needs to finish the good work he sets up.

Thanks. I'm delighted to hear all of this.

Just for good measure. Noone, who everyone said had no end product, provided a perfect cross for Cardiffs winner!!!

Law of Averages says he'll get it right every once in a while. I remember him setting up Buckley's winner against Doncaster with a beautiful pass.

Our problem isn't creating chances, it's converting them. Which is why the new thread here rumouring our interest in loaning Bennett seems surprising to me. Having either of them means nothing without someone who can put the ball in the goal.

Billy Paynter also score last night, should we have tried to sign him?
