I was just thinking if Bridcutt got a slight injury or 2 yellow cards at Burnley who would you put in as his cover. I thought of Dunk in the back four and moving El Abd in front of them but then thought what about Painter who has the football knowledge has played central defence and we could get Croft to do most of his running if needed so his lack of speed wouldn't be so exposed.

What are the views of NSC.

Calderon as witnessed against Swindon. He is this years utility player.

Thought of this Harley not strong enough in the tackle, Croft would lose the forward play we have gained by signing him, Calderon would be an experiment as would Painter and I think Painter is better defensively.

Crofts as defensive mid and either Harley or Calde taking over as central mid. I don't think Harley has the physicality to play the defensive midfield role and I don't think Calde has the positional discipline to play as a defensive midfielder but I reckon he could do a job playing a more attacking central role. Gus put him on in that position as a sub at Swindon and I assume that was his position for the Development Squad's league match against Bristol City yesterday

I was thinking about this after Saturday too. Liam has been better than ever in these opening games and I can't think of anyone in the squad who could fill that role. Navarro used to be the back up of course.

You'll know the game when Bruno, Calde & Buckley all play together.

It's when 1 bloke in the East stand, explodes with excitement.

Obviously used to be Navarro, and once he went Vincelot was the obvious option but looks like he's on his way. Croft dropping back and Harley playing in front seems like an option, but given the way that Crofts and Bridcutt seem to overlap and switch who's forward and who's back throughout the game I suspect Calderon would be the better option, don't think Harley's strong enough.

Surely one of the DS would be better as they will have been 'groomed' for the role as a ready made replacement. Anton Rodgers perhaps?

Crofts plays the holding role for Wales (and does a decent job from what I've seen), so I don't think Gus would have any worries about playing him there if he had to. We'd lose the balance we currently have, however - as we'd have no-one else with his bite and energy to play ahead of him.

I agree that it wouldn't hurt to bring in another specialist defensive-mid, just in case. Thankfully Bridcutt seems another in the Bennett mould, in that he just seems to be immune from injuries. *touches wood*

Courtney Richards. DS player played yesterday in that role and was Superb! Has played for Coventry City 1st team last year and is only 18 so much more to come from him. His passing was very accurate and had great vision. Do I think Gus would play him though? No. Think he would put dicker in there.
