Probably inspired by what the Spanish used to do, maybe they still do. I don't remember that whover it was, a Barcelona or Madrid feeder club no doubt, but they couldn't be promoted to the top division, even though they'd won the league, because they were effectively the reserve team of a top division club.

Mourinho is probably struggling to keep his multi talented high earning non playing reserves happy and this would be a comfy way out of it?

Not sure what they'd do if either A team got relegated though.

I can see where he is coming from but it is not fair on all the other clubs that aren't super clubs and do not have realistic ambitions of being in the Premiership.

Teams like Brighton and a host of others would be very happy to be promoted to and do well in the Championship. Why should this be jeapordised by Chelsea one week playing Shevchenko in their reserves and the next week playing some 16 year old kids?
