I doubt it, Notts County's website is full of similarly bizarre (or, if you prefer, attention seeking) updates from and about Allen.
I strongly suspect he's a bit of a tool.

He's somewhere between tool and genius. Much of what he does is designed to get a reaction, either to produce a performance or to deflect attention from his players. I quite like him, his blog is usually quite a good read too http://martinallenssundaysermon.wordpress.com/
