Am having nothing but problems with them. Cuts out 50 per cent of the time over the last 5 weeks and then have to spend hours talking with our friends on the sub-continent with their technical dept. there are obviously problems there -they even give out the phone prefix problem areas except I cant hear because o the faults online - so what I want to know is can anyone on here recommend another broadband provider that don't take the piss like BT.

It will be the same network regardless. There's probably a fault between your house and exchange on your line. Bad weather can cause this.

I use Sky unlimited which I've found to be superb. No down time, constant streaming with no restrictions etc.

I guess if you haven't got sky though you're stuffed.

It's quite simple... You ring up say its not working. And they send an engineer out to fix it.

But first You check to see if the line is bad at your main socket - disconnect any extensions. If its bad at the main socket then its BT's fault and you dont get charged.

I know this because I had to do it myself when my line was f***ed. It was a very easy process and yes I spoke to someone in India first.

What you do here is unscrew the front of the wall socket inside which is a tester where you check your connection, I believe.

The engineer has been out and he mentioned that certain groups of people are on a linked card or something and that a fault with one can effect the others. He also said it might be the weather or it might be this or it might be that.
Barber out . It is getting my goat now.

The only alternative is Virgin or a Dongle, as everything else flows down the old GPO copper wires unless you have fiber to the cabinet or their fiber to the home version. Are you reporting a fault just on the Broadband? As I am fairly sure if you report a fault with your BT phone-line the call centre is not on the sub continent.

Except they refuse to book a specific time with you to come out. You can either have 8am-2pm or 2pm-6pm Mon-Fri. No other options.

So if you are in a a job where you are unable to book a half day's holiday (e.g. teacher) then you basically live without internet until the next school holiday. But of course you must still honour your contract and pay for it whilst you are waiting. Or, you could argue enough with the person in the Indian call centre to be put through to the cancellations. Where a Scottish man tells you off and makes out you are the unreasonable one. Shit company, due to family employment background I basically had a completely irrational brand loyalty to them and they have managed to turn me away.

And I hate the adverts with that "student" twat in the checked shirt.

You can have Saturdays I thought? Their engineers work Saturdays as I saw a van down my road a few weeks back as I was leaving for an Albion game. I've never had a prob with BT. I have BT infinity and its brilliant!!! By the way if you have Internet BT get paid. Whoever you pay has to pay BT some money as they still own the network.

so you've got the engineer involved, are they progressing it? shirely they haven't just said thats it, cant be fixed, but are scheuduling some work at the exchange end? at the end of the day, whoever the provider is will be using the same cable and probably the same termination (they dont disconnect you and reconnect you to another dslam if you change provider). unless you switch to one offering their own network in your area, so Sky might help but bunch of research needed to find out if they are in your local exchange or just using BT themselves.

ah, interesting angle... if you switch to a "fibre" service you will be switched to using the connection to the cabinet. you'll have to pay a connection fee (unless find a deal with n month contract connection free), but you'll bump the speed up too. BT/Plusnet do fibre deals for under £20 with higher speed and higher download caps.

See my above post, a boost may help.

booster arent going to help if there's no connection coming into the property.
