I wanna caravan for me ma
Venue: Amex Stadium
Date: 6th August 2011
Kick Off: 15:00
Referee: Eddie Ilderton
Team News:
Player/Coach Mauricio Taricco and striker Will Hoskins are set to shake off knocks and will be available for selection for Gus Poyet's side. Central defensive duo Tommy Elphick and Adam El-Abd are set to miss out though.
Doncaster could give debuts to Giles Barnes, Tommy Spurr, Richard Naylor, Kyle Bennett, James Baxendale and Chris Brown. Several of their players will miss the game against the Seagulls including James Chambers, James O'Connor, Martin Woods and Shelton Martis.
Match Preview:
14 years after leaving the Goldstone Ground, Brighton finally have a stadium they can call their own, and they begin their Championship campaign full of confidence after winning League 1 at a canter last season under the mercurial guidance of manager Gus Poyet. The departures of Glenn Murray and Elliott Bennett were a blow to fans, however this was softened by several marquee signings including Scotland international striker Craig Mackail-Smith for a club record 2.5m fee from Peterborough, and Will Buckley from Watford for 1m. They join early summer signing Will Hoskins, experienced utility player Roman Vincelot, and talismanic winger Kazenga Lua Lua as new faces to join the club over the summer.
Doncaster have been more conservative with their spending over the summer, although they have made several shrewd acquisitions, including the vastly experienced Richard Naylor, and highly rated youngster Tommy Spurr. Manager Sean O'Driscoll will be looking for James Coppinger to pull the strings in midfield, with highly rated striker Billy Sharp ready to inflict some damage upfront.
