I'd pay it back. They'd nag you forever more, threaten you with court action (even though they won't follow it through) and you wouldn't be able to use the site any more.

Otherwise there is too much aggro involved. And for, what, £120 - that isn't actually yours?

I had an error on my account and it showed the bet as being placed then after the race they said it never went through.
I checked my bank account and they had taken the money. They put it back and then said that the bet would not stand and it was an error, nothing they could do.
I would close the account.

This.

Also, if they are anything like insurance companies, they will share info on bad debtors, and you may find you can't get on other sites either.

If you play the game and are decent with them, they MIGHT even give you a small credit as a goodwill gesture - it was their error after all.

Just asked my boss would worked as a casino manager for 15 years. He said that they are legally entitled to take it back, no question and will pass it on if not paid.

f*** bookmakers. Always trying to find loopholes to not pay you back and offering you shit odds. Take the £120 and tell them to do 1. Who cares about abit of nagging, theyre never going to do anything official, afterall its been said, 'whats £120'

Incorrect. They cannot take money out of you bank without any sort of authorisation. If you accidentally put £1000 on a horse that you only meant to put £10 on. It looses and you say, 'sorry, that was a mistake, can i have my £990 back please' i dont recon youd have much luck

This is good advice. Lay it on thick about you being an impoverished student or whatever, but in the end pay it back. They're bound to give you some kind of goodwill gesture. And you can bet your life some poor bugger in Stan James HQ somewhere has been sacked for their mistake. Earn yourself some karma!

Wouldn't your account techincally now be treated like a credit account?

I'd check through their Ts & Cs to see their policy upon palpable errors and credit betting.

And as HKFC said, slight consolation as it may be, but you may get a free bet or something out of it, which is a darn sight better than the threat of possible legal action.

I would take the money never speak to them again. as if they would start court action for 120 pounds.

the same happened with me a year or so back and i bet that money on something else which i was going to do anyway which ended up losing but managed to blag i would not have placed the bet had i not had the money given to me.
