Good as that is, and I know its generally well looked on to harp back to the olden days as being "the best", there have been plenty of jaw-dropping action sequences since then. Off the top of me 'ead

The car chases in Bullitt and Ronin

Yes some of those benefit from special effects obviously, but in terms of sheer spectacle I think they are every bit as thrilling to watch as the Ben Hur chariot race.

there was supposed to be a mini in one of the shots, which was used to film the horses...But I have also seen Ben Hur many times and never spotted it.. Isn;t there a site that is supposed to show these somewhere?

This is another urban myth.

Apparently, the background was a painting of some sort, so unless the 'artist' painted one in, impossible.
