Having to work until they are 65 to get a pension

Employers not wanting to employ anyone over 50

Not able to work new technologies

Stuck with their analogue tv and losing picture quality

An NHS with staff who don't care

Rising cots of retirement homes

Low interests rates so they can't save

Clinging on to the belief that things were always better "when I was a lad"

Not able to work the internet correctly

Struggling to understand the text speak of words like lol and wtf

I really do feel sorry for them and things are really looking bleak for them

I know, not being able to work new technologies AND not being able to work the internet. It's tough to know which is worse.

You can have threads similar to this and the other one, every generation. and

"An NHS with staff who don't care"

is bollox.

most of what I have said is true in some circumstances but is by no means what is the norm.

People have to work until 67 now and more likely until they drop dead. If they can get a job after 50 as you say.

I didn't actually read the rest of your statements, but that one stood out. Unfortunately, as someone with a long-term serious illness, I get to meet lots of NHS staff, and I can't think of one that I would describe a one who "doesn't care". I see some that are better than others, I see a system that doesn't always work or can be horrendously inefficient, but one thing I would not level at them is that they don't care.

Just one example from last week, I had an admissions clerk - not a medically qualified person, "just" an office worker essentially, but she rang me from her home at 9:30 at night, because she didn't want me to attend an appointment that had been cancelled the following day, and didn't know if I'd received the message.

The NHS and the people that work there is superb. My Dad's treatement has been nothing short of staggering recently. Everyone care's deeply and that why they do it. Heroes and Angels everyone of them.

I don't often agree with your views US, but I have to say you've got it spot on there. On the, thankfully rare, occasions that I have had any dealings with the NHS, I have always found the staff to be dedicated and caring.

When I was nearly blinded by my Dog 3 years ago the emergency treatment I had at the Brighton eye hospital was absolutely outstanding and saved my sight. My treatment would have cost me at least £ 2000 if I lived in the USA so I won't have anything said against the people who work in our NHS. They should get £ 150000 a week and John Terry should get £ 20000 per annum imo.

In my experience, as an old git, only ONE of those statements is true. And I don't want to live in a "retirement home".

It's you young 'uns who will be most affected.

Don't feel sorry me son

At least I can read and write.

I got a job when I left school.

I watched football from the terraces.

I watched the Sweeney when it came out.

I traveled the world and didn't worry about terrorists.

I shagged loads of birds and didn't worry about aids.

I drank in proper pubs and and who had mates who talked to each other.

And done 101 other things which the kids today will never enjoy or experience.
