"beat" or "beaten"

Is this something which only affects football related conversations, but whenever you hear manages talking about their games its:

"if we get beat in this game" or "when <insert-club-name> got beat that helped us"

Shouldn't it be "beaten"?

Sorry Wookie your thread reminded me of this :)

I used to LOVE that game in all its incarnations on the classic BBC Micro, making your own levels and EVERYTHING, it ruled!

Should be "beaten". But part of the problem is that the verb 'got' or 'get' is also redundant here. Correct usage is:

"If we are beaten in this game" and "When Palace were beaten that helped us"

School over for the day.

It's called BrookingSpeak.

We got beat, the team done brilliant etc. The end of the word is cut off and it's a related condition to that of young children who when learning to speak often omit the first syllable of a word (e.g. mato, tato instead of tomato and potato). Research shows that it may be linked to damage caused by heading the ball. Or the fact that most footballers are very thick.

Exile....OH MY GOD that was AMAZING, never did complete it though, might see f its available for the PC :D

Nah I never completed it either. It just got too difficult :(

Elite and Exile were probably the two best games for the BBC, and possibly ever :clap2: You can get some Elite-style games for the PC now but they don't quite have the gameplay.

As for Planetoid, wasn't that also called Defender? Or am I thinking of something else ???
