Any instances of exceptional LONGEVITY in goods/items out there?

Thanks Greens :(
A mate of mine drives a Japanese car, which he doesn't thrash, and he tells me he's done 45 000 miles in it and hasn't put a set of front brake pads in it!?

I thought 24 000 miles odd might be exceptional, but this is great. Perhaps brake technology has advanced?

Anyone with similar tales, like the light bulb still going after twenty years?

???

I've done nearly 40-45K with my current pads, it's all motorway miles so rarely have to brake hard. It can be done, just depends on your driving style and where.

or prehaps he's grinding metal and goes to a "freindly" MOT shop.

im in the throwaway generation X and cant think of many. if i look to older generation though, my dad drives a 1974 VW Type 4 and has a record player + amp from the 70's too.
