Yes, it is. It's the way the ball comes into contact with the surface, and with grass it generates the most speed as it bounces, and stays the lowest out of all the surfaces. As for the science behind why it's the quickest, I'm not 100% sure.

I guess I could come up with reasons as to why hard and clay would be slower!

No doubt that Roddick deserved to win that set by sheer willpower and refusing to wilt, Federer had it in the bag and chocked throwing away a multitude of chances. Good for the game though.

Its a good game so far, looks like Roddick is going to win this set to take it to a 5th set!

Well he's gonna have to if he's to win, no tie breaks in the 5th set. Roddick almost deserves to win because he has made Federer look nothing special for most of this match.

Hard to actually dislike the bloke. He's dull and worthy and has done nothing whatsoever wrong. Oh, and he's very very good at what he does.

Roddick is playing well but i don't think he'll win in the end. Federer has the nack of producing genius results out the bag.
