A group of eight of us, Sussex CCC fans, are going over for the pro40 match against Holland.
Looking to stay in Amsterdam, sort of Travelodge type place, not too costly.
Anybody been, and got any recommendations.
Cheers

I don't know how much it will cost in comparison to a travelodge but have a look at getting a houseboat, might work . Google Amsterdam houseboat hotel

There aren't really many Travelodge type of Hotels in Amsterdam. That's mainly because the buildings are so old and expensive which means expensive hotels. The closet thing to a Travelodge is a Campanile (http://www.campanile.com/), but they're prices are not that great and it's in a rough part of town a fair way out. Best "budget" Hotel is Citizen M City (http://www.citizenm.com/) it's about 75euro a night and they are meant to be quite nice. It's about a 10 minute tram ride to the centre and a few minutes walk to one of the main train stations (Amsterdam Zuid). HEM Hotels are also pretty cheap. A bit further out but maybe a bit cheaper (http://www.hemhotels.nl/en/index.html).

There are plenty of flea pits in the city, but if it was me, I'd opt for Citizen M if looking for a hotel. Alternitively, try http://www.lovingamsterdam.com/ for apartments. Give us a shout if you need any more info.

Try Globe - Google 'Globe Amsterdam'.

Very cheap, basic and next to the red light district.

Quiet in the rooms tho - bar seems to be open 24 hours too.
