Just been on the sportinglife page to check the scores.
This one stood out:

Code:
Getafe 3 Bayern Munich 3 AET
Contra 44
Casquero 91
Braulio 93
	            Ribery 89
                   Toni 115 , 120

Attend: 16,300
	Half-time: 1-0
(1-1 after 90 mins)
(Aggregate: 4-4)

Awesome game by the looks of things, well done Bayern.

BUT - how have they gone through? Surely the away goals rule doesn't count in extra time - they will have had an extra half an hour away from home to score?

Or have I missed something blindingly obvious?

Away goals do count as the advantage is considered to be with the team that plays at home second.

dunno
why do you think the away goals rule doesnt count in extra time? Never seen anything to the contrary

Do not think they count in the Carling Cup.

Per The Uefa Cup Rules:

Article 7
Away goals, extra time
7.01 For matches played under the cup (knock-out) system, if the two teams
involved in a tie score the same number of goals over the two legs, the team
which scores more away goals qualifies for the next stage. If this procedure
does not produce a result, i.e. if the two teams score the same number of
goals at home and away, extra time of two periods of 15 minutes shall be
played at the end of the second leg. If, during extra time, both teams score
the same number of goals, away goals count double (i.e. the visiting club
qualifies). If no goals are scored during extra time, kicks from the penalty
mark (see Article 16) determine which club qualifies for the next stage.

As others have said; away goals do count. The idea being, I would imagine, that while the extra half hour gives them time to score away goals, it also gives the home team (who have the advantage of being at home) more chance to score, and win the tie outright.

I watched it - brilliant, brilliant game. Hats off to plucky Getafe - they were desperately unlucky.

The winning goal came so late, the goddam goalkeeping LEGEND that is Oliver Kahn had come up for the corner. Whilst running back to his own goal in celebration, the big old BEAR was clearly struggling and failing to fight back the tears as he ran - the old boy's well past his best and knows it, so that was his European career over before the goal went in. I don't even much care for Bayern but it was unforgettable stuff.

Ollie Kahn, what a keeper, an all time international great.

if away goals had of counted in extra time of the play offs, we wouldn't have even made it to penalties

Bayern Munich, the Manchester United of Germany...but with far less annoying fans.

Kahn was so impressed with the Getafe support throughout the game, he handed one of them his gloves at the end.

As you say, Bayern are SO easy to dislike as a club - arrogant, think they're bigger than the game, the press always on their side etc etc - very Man U. But they do have some fantastic players - not exactly galacticos, but good young players like Schweinsteiger and Lahm, plus people like Ribery and that LEGEND at the back that makes them a very entertaining and characterful team to watch this year. Hell, I might even try and go to the final Manchester if they make it there.
