After a memorable away day this weekend at the Villa which I'm certain everyone enjoyed :clap2: I saw a Dad with his very young son and says "Not bad for your first away day hey, son!?"

So NSC, what was your away day experience like?

Mine? Mine was back when we still had Zamora, I believe it was the season we won the Division 2 title. Peterbrough away, my Uncle lives up there and has supported them since moving there after the Falklands. Although I had to sit in the PEterbrough end, I still celebrated when we went 1-0 up :clap2:

Mine was Swindon away in 2001 I think it was. Finished 1-1, Zamora getting our goal.

Southend in the 70s. Sat safely in the stand with my old man and my kid brothers, hearing rumours about the train getting smashed up on the way from Brighton

Luckily we had travelled in the old man's brand new Austin Maxi and were staying the weekend with some people in Rayleigh.

It was Easter and in those days we used to play the likes of Southend home and away over the Easter weekend. They ought to do that now.

Reading away in 1994 the day then won the title. Even though we lost, we had a massive away following that game.

Way out west
Charlton on New Year's Day 1985...despite it only being just up the road there can't have been more than a couple of hundred of us there, we scored after about a minute and hung on for a 1-0 victory...at least my away-days started on a high!

3-1 against Southampton this season :badfan:

I'd kinda always wanted my dad to come with me to my first albion game, but it never happened so i've been a stay away until the last two years or so.

Took the old man to his first albion game against Orient on boxing day

a game at Corinthian Casuals in the 60's I think (though couldn't put a date to it I'm afraid).

I had been watching Albion for years but back then I almost never got to go to away games but never missed one at home - nowadays it's almost the opposite

Thinking about it I'm pretty sure it was some sort of testimonial match so I guess my first competitive away match would have been at Leyton Orient in a league game in the early 60's which I think we lost 2-0 and I also remember the Fa Cup match away v Aldershot in '66 - a 0-0 draw and when we got home we found we had drawn Chelsea in the next round if we won the replay (which we did 3-1 I think)
