It is nonsense.
Airlines have contracts. They could well get a lot of compensation if Gatwick were to voluntarily close.
Plus UK government would intevene.
If owners of Gatwick cannot make it work, then time for Government to nationalise it.
It is not a privilege.
It is an essential way for many people to visit loved ones, travel for business and for holidays where there is no option other than to fly.
Hey if we all get 6 months paid leave a year with no loss of pay, I’ll happily see the return of Ocean Liners.

As time goes, people will realise how miserable an existence it will be on net zero (rationed meat, no more foreign holidays, not being able to drive), they’ll not accept it. There is a fine difference between temporary lock downs and this is it for the rest or your life.
