https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10665073/Lateral-flow-tests-scrapped-England-Friday.html That’s the end of testing in the general population then. Does seem like a logical step to be fair if we are to treat it like other illnesses. Assume the case numbers will now drop steeply as...

The modelling to date has been so inaccurate it is hard to take them seriously anymore. I’m not clear on what change in behaviour they are envisaging beyond the end of testing asymptomatic people. People who are genuinely ill are still likely to stay at home?

Apologies for not answering your point! Yes the stats seems to cover the whole population and do not break down into risk categories. This doc has plenty of breakdowns by age group but that is not what you’re asking-...

Sorry this graph is a couple of weeks old but does show - in terms of fatalities - covid is now on a par with flu. The other measure of extreme cases - covid ICU admissions- is also very low- There are apparently 192 district health authorities so each one is dealing with approx 2 ICU...

Possibly they are envisaging covid being dealt with the same way as flu. So anything we are doing for covid, that we don’t do for flu- will be going pretty quickly. General flu strategy is- people (mostly) stay at home if ill, offer annual jab to elderly etc. So anything beyond that...

Take on obesity by a strategy to inform and educate the population about healthy food choices and lifestyle choices. Keep it positive- promote positive options rather than criticising less healthy ones. Possibly look at restricting the advertising unhealthy choices as they are heavily promoted...

This graph showing risk is on a par with flu and now is slightly lower than flu for under 45’s. Time to move on? Or get as worried about flu as we are about covid. https://twitter.com/jburnmurdoch/status/1488089690045562882?s=20&t=18OYsaqinvrJLXQ019vjrA

Assume the diabetes correlation is also associated with many diabetic also being obese? Great news if the health risks of (omnicron) covid are now similar or less than flu. Hope for pre-covid life to resume now.

Interesting there are 8 million people overdue having their 3rd jab. Some may have had covid in the last 28 days so are waiting but 8 million is a lot- are there this many people who did want 2 jabs but don’t want a 3rd?

The papers today seem to have been given the info that all restrictions are likely to go on the 26th of Jan. Looks like omnicron has peaked and we are on the way out of the worries about hospital capacity etc. for now!

Looking at excess deaths- things have been pretty stable since March 2021, omnicron has delivered no increase so far. Seems like ‘good’ news but could change moving forward obviously. To date, nothing to see by this measure.

Sturgeon is taking the easy option for her personally / politically- it’s arse covering. Bring in measures- if it gets worse she says ‘I told you so, I was right to do that’ - if it doesn’t get worse she says- ‘see, my measures worked and helped to ensure it didn’t get worse.’ She personally is...

The big question is whether the current level of covid cases actually leads to a dramatic increase in ICU / deaths. If it doesn’t, we are in the same place we’ve been since July which has seemed manageable with no additional restrictions. Big picture, surely no one wants an saga going on for...
