Yes, agree entirely, but I would argue, if the shirt is no longer about, a ‘keen’ supporter would look up the relevance…..
You’ve just made a dozen fans google Charlie Webb 😂😂
But it happens in other sports.
Fair enough though, we disagree
PS - hadn’t realised re Maldini, seems fair, but Brighton are not Milan so not comparable
Sure, and Dunk I get, but for Solly great (and one of my favourite players), is longevity enough? That is a different discussion in terms of what constitutes legend status….
But in 500 years, supporters will know who Pascal Gross is and his impact, rather than being another name who fades into...
I don’t agree, it works well in American sport, and is recognition of achievements at a club, it is also a mark of respect and ensures someone’s contribution is never forgotten.
I appreciate there is an argument about where do you stop and what constitutes a legend, but that’s another debate...
Excellent press release from club….
Brilliant letter from Pascal.
True legend.
Great memories.
Thank you…..
Edit - should the club retire his shirt?
(Sorry if already suggested, not going back through whole thread)
I think people have questioned his pace, but very few have questioned his ability, so differ to you on that.
Edit - I think everyone knows he’s not fast in terms of pace, but intellectually he’s one of the quickest in our team.
Really?
I think Albion fans are fairly unanimous in that he has been our best and most influential player since he joined us.
Frankly, (I wouldn’t normally say this….about opinions etc), but anyone who can’t or hasn’t been able to see what Pascal has brought to the team, throughout his time...
But perhaps Moran will be better off in a different environment, he looked ok when he came in against Everton a couple of seasons ago, I wouldn’t write him off yet.
Just a brilliant player and has been from Day 1.
For me, what I never gave him enough credit for is his versatility, the ability to play multiple positions, and still achieve a high level of quality is astounding
Bit unfair, Lawrenson was SO good he moved to Liverpool, if Pascal was at that level he’d have also moved after a few seasons.
However, both excellent.
