[Albion] Pascal Groß the raumdeuter - officially leaves for Dortmund :(

Unquestionably, this has been a big emotional hit to see him leave. Not comparing quality of course, but I haven't felt this sad about a player leaving since Calderon left. A Brighton Premier League line up without Pascal Gross feels unthinkable, but with any luck (and no shortage of data) I'm...

[Albion] Pascal Groß the raumdeuter - officially leaves for Dortmund :(

I think what's helped is his longevity. We've actually signed a few "rabbit out of a hat players", the problem is they've mainly been sold before they reach any level of legendary status. I count my blessing every day that people only started to notice Gross after he turned 31

Not directed a Nagelsmann, but what what are these managers at international level looking at? It's their job to understand the talent available and make good, and sometimes risky, decisions. No player should be "under the radar" to an international manager if they're playing in one of the top 5...

Personally, I'd be really sorry to see him leave. He's had a stint this season as the Twitterati punching bag, greeting every selection with "WTF, Gross?", "FFS, he's too slow" etc etc but he's quietly continued to be a very effective and important player for us this season. He's 31 at the start...

[Albion] Pascal Groß the raumdeuter - officially leaves for Dortmund :(

Unfortunately, we live in a) a binary world where you're either a "goat" or sh!te and b) a world where FIFA defines some of the younger generation's views on a player, primarily based on their pace stat. Groß is slow, yes, but he thinks quickly. I dread to think what a modern audience would...

[Albion] Pascal Groß the raumdeuter - officially leaves for Dortmund :(

You're right. I think he's like Lallana in that sense. You can't have too many players with their pace in the side, but both Groß and Lallana both have footballing brains that put them miles ahead of some of our squad. Neither are spring chickens, but their game isn't about pace and never has...
