    [Albion] RIP Gerry Ryan

I think Gerry scored Brighton's first ever division one ( premier) goal, coming on as sub against Ipswich. I was there, and again to see the legendary goal v Man City. All time favourite player for my father and I. RIP Gerry.

[Travel] Have you been to Cuba in the past 11 years? Travelling to the US may be an issue

Hi, have you considered renewing your UK passport, and thus removing the Cuba stamp from your passport. Might well work as I expect USA don’t have access to Cuba border control info. I went to Cuba 8 years ago so very interested in your post as I use USA as a place to catch onward flights to...

[Football] The Non-League Football Thread- 2021/22 Edition

Parking at Polgrove for Bexhill United game is plentiful and free after 6 pm, in most places , just check signs to be sure. The sea front is only 50 meters from ground, and you get to watch match from an Edwardian grand stand , ( not very well maintained by council ) but nonetheless quaint.

    [Finance] Used Car Prices

At your son’s age, it’s all about the cost of insurance. look at the insurance group tables and work from there. Don’t be conned by dealers who say “ I think this is fairly low on insurance “. VW fox and Fiat pandas , are not only very low group insurance but also good if your son is very tall...

[Football] VAR whats worse waiting to celebrate a goal or going one down to an illegal goal?

The best thing about VAR is it takes some pressure off the Ref. Influential managers in the old Ferguson mode will have far less impact on the game and this can only be good for BHA. If we are realy lucky it will give TV pundits less to go on about and get them off the screen quicker as well...

IN A BROKEN DREAM Python Le Jackson, probably Rod Stuart's finest ever vocal. Covered by Thunder and one or two others.

[Travel] Anyone park at Polegate for Saturday games?

If you park at Polgate station, be sure to be in the station car park and not the shop one which is next to it and can be mistaken for the station one. I have always found plenty of room, but just carefull as it is possible to buy a ticket and still get a ticket.

    Gin drinkers

Me & Mrs R did a blind tasting of Tonics with and without Gin. Because I think Fever Tree is a cleverly advertised ,over priced hype. We tried loads right across the price range. Much to Mrs displeasure Marks and Spencer's was tops for us both and Fever Tree only mid table. Using the money saved...

    Venice

Go on the city pass Venezia unica web site for good info and a free down load map. We went last year for just one day whilst on a cruise, it was superb. A one day water bus ( vaporetto ) pass is 20 euros and gives unlimited hop on and off travel. I think the number one boat is the slow one that...

    Dozen old B&HA programs

I have unearthed a few old programs going back as far as 1984, free to anyone who can collect from Bexhill. Of interest in West Ham away 1990, a certain Chris Hughton lines up against us at number 6, on loan from Spurs, what ever happened to him.

Estimate for 2 tier house extension - not imminent work on offer

I had this type of job done two years ago, so my info may not be quite current and Brighton may be more expensive. Then an extension was aprox. £ 1,400 per meter, of total floor space as a ball park figure, very high spec would be more. In your case it would be 3 x 8 x 2 = 48. 48 x £...

Any BT Openreach engineers on here?

Try,writing an old fashion letter addressed to the Chairman at the HQ in Newgate St London, send it recorded delivery. He won't actually read it, but it will become a chairmanship case and they used to act on these with urgency when I worked for them. Might work and you have nothing to loose but...

Airport VAT scam/Rip off prices exposed

If you have time to spare at the airport, play the airport shopping game. Fill a basket up with things, go to checkout and when asked for boarding card walk away and don't return. It's called getting your own back for all the times they have made you reshop and que again, because you had left...

    Car insurance For young drivers

Cheapest car insurance for my 17 now 18 year old son was through " drive like a girl " he is a bit miffed by company name but at 750 and no black box it seemed a goodish deal. We put two other named adults on policy as additional drivers , which reduced it a bit, but too many extra drivers can...
