No it isn't. Just think of the opposition photo ops. Constant pictures of Farage outside a pub with a full "proper" pint, puffing a Lambert and Desperate while wearing a "Two Tier Kier" t-shirt would make me lose my lunch on a regular basis.

And Guinness HAS to be in a pint. FACT.

Utterly pointless idea. All people will do is order two drinks to replace the pint - so they end up actually drinking more. Of course the exchequer will like the extra tax take from it.

Nah f*** that. If they remove your pint (57cl) they're just going to replace it with the 50cl we get in the developed (measurement-wise) world.

That's 6-7 important centiliters gone, and chances are most pubs won't lower the prices.

From the outside, this looks like a draconian plan to take your money and give you less beer.

Long live the pint!

It is a ridiculous idea.

People will just make the conversion, if not logically than intuitively.

People won't feel like they're getting tipsy after a couple of the 'new' glass sizes, so will associate 3 with that feeling - as a result, they've actually drunk 2.25 pints, rather than the 2 pints they had previously.

I wonder what research has gone into this - every scenario played out in my head, people will end up drinking more with smaller glass sizes.

I actually think we should go in the other direction - make glass sizes BIGGER and in metric. Scrap the pint glass for 1 litre glass.

stories like this suggest we have reached a stage of civilisation where there are no real problems anymore. anyone who can devote time to measuring how many 2/3pints people would drink clearly isn't needed for any other social issues.

:drink:< raise a pint.

if a 2/3rd is on offer I tend to go for it, so can see the logic. But I doubt it would happen
