I thought I'd snaffled a 2 in my 1000th game but it wasn't to be.
I think I may change my starter word from tomorrow after using old faithful for a the best part of 3 years. Today's results made me hungry for another hole in one

Hmmm. I've only ever missed one day. I thought it was the 1000th as that what my phone's calculator suggests (I do my average on it each day). Maybe I didn't start doing the average until a few days in.

It took me ages before I used a check list of previous words after a guess and I only did that because lots of others confirmed they did - my average has understandably improved since then because of it.
Luck remains a key constituent though as despite the good start today I could easily have had a 4

Agree with all that. As for previous answers list, I admit I check it, but only if I am on last guess and have more than one option. Although will obviously check it now to come up with a new starter word.
