It isn't a group of five.
There are 4 groups of 8 (each consisiting of 4 U-21 sides and 4 National League sides).
I suspect that the 4 National League sides host each of the 4 U-21 sides (and the NL sides and the U-21 sides don't play each other in the groups).
Hope the whole thing crashes and burns in spectacular fashion.
Answering myself - I get it now (I looked it up!) 4 PL2 teams and 4 National League teams in 4 groups of 8. The NL teams play the 4 PL2 teams at home (and each of the PL2 teams visits the NL teams). Top 2 in each group go through to the quarter finals (knockout stage).
Nice and simple - I like it!
(I hope they're not doing that silly penalty shoot out for an extra point in a drawn game though).

It's a no from me these u21 sides will try to muscle there way into the conference lge eventually. I'm so glad we've got this money spinning tournament instead of cup replays.
No, hope not - U21 (or second teams) teams shouldn't become part of the pyramid.
You were never guaranteed a cup replay, lucrative or otherwise, let alone four of them. Come on, it could be fun!
