Steele 5 - he was a couple of minutes away from a significantly higher rating as he had very little help from the defense and had to deal with a million crosses and did it well. That mistake, the nature of it, is unacceptable however.

Hinshelwood 7 - a solid performance. A little too far from the winger at the first goal but overall he was certainly one of the best today.
Webster 5 - gave the ball away too many times but won most duels against their strikers.
Igor 3 - please go back to being Alibigor. Absolutely terrible in defense and with the ball.
Estupinan 5 - was ok but let his player through too many times. Far from top form but we're getting there.

Moder 4 - not good enough in this role at this level (a.k.a. playing Wolves B team).
Baleba 8 - fair number of sloppy passes even from him, but overall he carried the game.
Enciso 6 - worked hard, some nice passes and plays, but lost the ball a lot and was invisible for long spells of the game.

Minteh 2 - he works so hard and I'd really want to put a higher rating on him but its an awful, awful, awful performance.. again. I raised my fist in some sort of euphoria when he managed to pass the ball to Hinshelwood one time in the second half. It is quite worrying that he can't control the ball, its pretty much a requirement in the Premier League.
Ferguson 3 - I think he lost every single duel against their rather shite defenders.
Adingra 8 - thank f*** he was around to make us look like we had any sort of attacking threat.

Wieffer 5 - that was not very convincing, but to be fair to him he came on in a very difficult role in a very difficult stage of the game.
Welbeck 6 - not sure he achieved all that much but at least he wasn't shit and that raised our level a bit
Ayari 7 - came on and looked like a player who should play Premier League football, which was exactly what we needed.
Ferdi and Lamptey played too little to get a rating, but both had positive impact.

Interesting, as some thought Ferguson was quality first half, I didn’t.

I thought Hinshelwood was poor defensively, but composed with the ball.

Welbeck the turning point, we starting using our possession intelligently, such a clever player.

Steele - 6 - Good off his line, couple of good saves. Truly awful mistake. No reason to be taking risks that late in the game when we're two goals up

Hinshelwood - 7 - Glorious goal line save and some tidy passing. Given problems by his winger though. Centre midfield for Hinsh please
Estupinan - 7 - Overlapping runs created space for Adingra for his goal and for other chances, solid in the challenge, but nowhere to be seen when their winger was rampaging in more than one occasion
Webster - 5 - Mixed display. Very good in the first half, found some great passes but can't escape criticism for some gaping holes in the middle of the defence
Igor - 4 - A huge contributor to a proper harum scarum display. Not all bad, he shows some very decent moments on the ball, but is caught out of position too often

Babela 8 - MOM - Incredible goal. Some mixed moments on the ball. He too was loose in possession sometimes, but has that Caicedo Bissouma ability to get his foot in from nowhere and he showed that tonight. Rightly he was taken off for Sunday
Moder - 5 - Going to be charitable and note this was his first appearance for sometime so some rustiness is to be expected, but coughed up the ball and was wrong side too often

Minteh - 5 - Willing runner, but not much came off for him today. His crossing is still too floaty and close to the keeper. Limped off and I doubt will keep his place
Enciso - 4 - Some nice flashes, but poor tonight. Should have been withdrawn earlier
Adingra - 7 - Lovely goal and pretty good all round performance. His cut in and shoot goal reminds us of why the left is his best position and surely him and Mitoma won't both be here next season.
Ferguson - 6 - Very pleasing first half where he reminded us what he's about. Faded badly in the second and again, should be been bought off 20 mins earlier.

Subs - Wieffer, Ferdi and Ayari showed they are pushing very hard for a start at the weekend

Ferguson 3?? He was close to my man of the match first half. Looked a threat throughout and would have scored/assisted if Minteh had not stupidly gone too early. Faded scond half presumably due to lack of match fitness but overall a really good performance. Enciso however I thought was terrible.

Ok, I saw a player constantly muscled off the ball over and over again. I honestly think he lost the ball more times than he managed to get it to a team mate. His first half was certainly less bad than the second, but imho it was a very weak performance and right now he's very far from challenging Welbeck and Joao Pedro for the 9 role.

Still good that he played though. Thats the first step after a rough six months for him; get him on the pitch quite regularly.

Steele 5 - undid the hard work
Hinshelwood 7 - targeted but was fine
Igor 5 - first half good, second half ridiculous
Webster 6- some great moments but sloppy at times too
Pervis 6- good to see him back, largely solid if disappointing going forward
Moder 6 i went in with low expectations but he was pretty solid if not especially creative
Enciso 3 - you can't go mouthing off to the press and then put in a stinker like that. He's a youngster so i don't expect the finished article but he was toilet
Minteh 5 incredibly frustrating decision making, his play is good but his final ball is very much not
Ferguson 6 not at his best but i was really encouraged that he looked 'on it'
Adingra 9 man of the match, classy display, great goal
Baleba 8 faded a bit second half but brilliant in the first and what a goal!

Welbeck 7
Weiffer 7
Ayari 6
Lamptey 6
Ferdi 7
Some encouraging performances off the bench at a time when we'd been causing ourselves a lot of problems.

A good evening if a slightly erratic display. Trains worked a treat for once too.

Harsh on Ferguson - thought he was much more involved than we have seen and should have had a goal but get your point that he was moved off th ball too easily.

Weiffer struggled with the ball being played to him id our box but going forward looked pretty good and a ball winner.

Moder was ok first half, don't think there was too much between him and Enciso's performance.

Minteh - he was a bit light weight , personally would not play him and Enciso at same time.

The problem with Minteh isn't that he's light weight.

The problem is that nearly every time he gets the ball, he either has a shite touch that brings the ball out of play or to an opponent. And when he doesn't get a shite first touch, he keeps the ball for 2-3-4 seconds too long and then doesn't get his pass through.

Physically he is where we want him to be imho. Fast, strong and firm.

Agree entirely. I think folk are so desperate for him to do well, they convinced themselves he did based on just a couple of touches here and there. I get it, he was the one player I really wanted to have a big game tonight but he looks some way off it for me.

He’s got a lot of work to do. He’s miles off Welbeck and Joao Pedro’s standard.

Disagree entirely. Thought he was excellent first half and ready to challenge Welbeck for a starting place. Faded second half but understandable - not helped by terrible service second half

I think the reality is somewhere between the two. I thought he was pretty good for around 30 minutes of the first half - as did the sky commentators - but he faded badly later on and in the second half which is understandable. His booking came from him being absolutely knackered. He’s clearly getting up to speed, so him getting 60+ minutes was very valuable.

Igor however. Lucky to get a 3 unless it’s one point for each boot he managed to get on and another for successfully making it out of the changing room. Didn’t do much else right.

Steele - 5 - I’m an unfair witness on this as it just gives me the heebie jeebies when he’s in goal. Which based on his performance was entirely unfair until the 90th minute.

Hinsh - 6 - a mixed performance. Amazing clearance and quite progressive but caught out a few times. But he’s a 19 year old in his second season, he’s doing well.

Webster - 5 - a real mixed bag of a performance. I don’t concur with a lot of the hate for him, but he does seem to have periods of games where he just keeps giving the ball away.

Igor - 1 - awful. Just awful.

Pervis - 6 - another still getting up to speed so the biggest bonus was him getting 90 minutes. But still some way off his best. One second half moment where he played a great one two and had the opportunity to tear past four of their players only to needlessly back heel it was infuriating.

Baleba - 8 - really looks like the real deal now.

Moder - 5 - the move to Leicester would have been ideal for him. He’s just not at this level.

Enciso - 4 - I really feel he made a poor decision pushing Tony to let him go to the Olympics. He needed a full pre season with the new manager. Looks way off the pace and will now find himself behind a long queue when everyone is fit.

Adingra - 8 - I always think he looks so much more at home on the left

Minteh - 4 - frustrating, but he’s young and inconsistency comes with the territory. I was surprised he got so long, felt like he could have done with a rest.

Ferguson - 6. Like a racehorse running in a race that was too long for him, I thought he looked good for 30 minutes then tired badly. Part of him getting back up to speed so not too worried.

Wieffer - 7 - he’ll take a bit of getting used as he’s unlike most players we’ve had in recent years. His close control isn’t quite as silky, but what he brings is that he seems to eat up the ground, disrupts attacks, wins the ball back. Made an impact in this game. Think he’ll be an important player.

Ayari - 6 - Ok

Welbs - 6

Ferdi - 6. A bit like Weiffer he seems to be everywhere which is encouraging.

Lamptey - not on long enough to judge but the fact he only got a few minutes when Hinsh could probably have done with a rest says it all. Won’t be here next season.

...now looking at the actual stats:

Lost 9 out of 11 duels on the ground.

Disposseded 12 times.

11 successful passes out of 15.

Whatever the TV commentator and half of NSC said, he was poor.
