As they walk out, and prior to kick off? what's the difference? arent they one and the same? As they walk out IS prior to kick off!

As in the title, 'just' prior to kick-off. There's a couple of minutes from walking out until they are ready to start the game. There is a difference, even for a pedant!

Do we know WHY it was moved? My only concern would be if the timing gets cockedup and it ends up being cut off because the game has kicked off. Or, in the other scenario, it finishes and then there's an awkward silence for a while...

Overall, I'd prefer it when the players walked out, but thought it worked well yesterday.

their timing has to be right as I noticed the ref was wanting to start the game but the pa was still blaring out…..wonder if TV will want it stopped if it interferes with their scheduling.

still think they need to kill the words on the big screens

Surely there's no problem if time runs out before the kick off, as we'll continue to sing it anyway!

Think I mentioned this elsewhere, but I take full responsibility for the removal of Hey Jude.
At a fan meeting in the summer with PBOBE I asked the stupidest question of the night, "Why do we continue playing Hey Jude before KO when we are the only club who don't sing it but all the away fans give it loud?"
PBOBE passed the question to the guy stood behind me, the guy in charge of the music.
His reply was something like "It's a classic song"
I argued the case of dumping it and both he and PBOBE asked what should replace it.
General thought at the meeting (around 100 fans) was dump Jude and maybe Ring of Fire pre KO.

Well you failed as it was played yesterday and woke up the Ipswich fans. The sooner it disappears again the better.

I seem to recall back in the day (at the Goldstone) that the PA would stop at about 10 minutes before kick off and the fans would take over. That was back before all the staged walking out together and shaking hands business.
I’ve never really understood why we need the PA to be at full volume until the ref blows his whistle. It means the fans don’t really get to warm up and the game often starts with silence from the North Stand.

Oh, and as the team walks out is the correct answer to the poll question.

But surely if GOSBTS is playing right up to KO, if timed perfectly, the fans carry on singing the song well past KO, followed by ALBION as usual.
It beats silence.

I think the issue is deciding whether Sussex by the Sea is a ‘walk out song’ or a pre-kick off song.

Everton have Z cars as they walk out.
Chelsea have the Liquidator as they walk out.
Man Utd have This is the One as they walk out.

They all play different songs pre-kick off. In my opinion, Sussex by the Sea is our walk out song and we need to adopt a different pre-kick off song.

By the way, North London Forever is an utterly garbage song and the fact that the club are fiddling about with our pre-match routine in response to Arsenal adopting that is a total insult.

Seems like they are trying to make it like an anthem like Arsenal and that muggy " London forever " track.

You wouldn't play z cars at goodison at anything other than when the teams walk out.

I hope Barbers inbox is bulging over this

I'd go SBTS then Right Here Right Now. Though RHRN has been done to death by other clubs, so Maybe Praise You, even though I've always thought of it as an after match song. Let's go with this pre kick-off instead:

If we're going local for a pre-game song, would be nice to have some Royal Blood. Not designed to be one we can sing to, just a good, cool song with foreboding lyrics for the opposition:

Either way, it felt wrong with it being so late on Saturday.
