What can EUFA do to clubs that fail their PSR / FFP criteria?
Not allowed to play in their club competitions.
It doesn't get to that because clubs ensure in advance that they meet UEFA FFP rules.

At least UEFA have balls unlike the PL who seem to favour the top 6 cheating

But I'm sure Chelsea wouldn't care if they were chucked out of Europe this season. After all, it's hardly the Champions League is it?

R5 now. Sports lawyer at Sheffield Hallam university suggests that if we bring in a football regulator it will be 'at odds' with Eufa and Fifa and this may result in England being banned from international competition. Crikey.

From an economic trade point of view, no government would allow that to happen.
How can a government override sanctions imposed by sporting international governing bodies?
I didn't see Russia at recent sporting festivals.
Or am I misunderstanding (meaning that you mean that no government would allow the national regulator to put the national game at risk of international ban?).

What was the reasoning behind having a regulator = risk we are not allowed in FIFA / UEFA competitions? It seems totally at odds with what the would want - better controls.
I assume it's one of:
FIFA / UEFA don't want the possibility of other countries copying the UK regulator model (because they do not like transparency)
The lawyer is not unbiased, and friendly to one of the pig six

The Premier League has been lobbying UEFA as does not want to give any more money to EFL. Instead it wants to give more money to sport lawyers (Citeh case now heading to £100m costs for both parties).
Some MP’s are trying to expand remit of IFR and the letter from UEFA just a warning to not get ideas and interfere in other areas of the game beyond the original suggestions (heritage, owners and as a last resort distribution).
When the clown car that was the Truss administration was in power, and was ideologically opposed to a regulator, the Premier League took off the table the (relatively small) concessions it had tentatively offered the EFL, who have nothing to negotiate with except two legged Rumbelows Cup semi final. The PL outmanoeuvred the EFL with FA Cup replays (which had to go somehow) by going behind their back and buying off the National League with the new U23 competition.
