One club man he said. I expect he’ll stick that. His best years may be behind him, but he’s not suddenly rubbish, so I doubt we’d entertain offers. Still has plenty to offer for us. If United do want an experienced centre back I’d think they’d try to find a player with trophy winning or European experience in the final years of his career line Chelsea did with Thiago Silva. Dunk is experienced but maybe not in the ways United want so I can’t see much truth in this.
We would definitely entertain offers ! And if dunk was keen we would probably let him go for a smallish fee like we always do for older players on a short contract.

Do teams typically wait for a transfer window to close before trying to buy someone?

Also, I seem to remember Jim Ratcliffe saying that they would change their transfer policy to only bring in players under 25.
Already broken that rule, but most are under 25.
Let's see how they get on this season, that may be a policy that is totally abandoned if the young signings don't work out so well.

Likely total nonsense of a story, however, if (and it's a massive "if") there's any truth in it... The chance to earn 3x your salary for the last 3-4 years of your career? Tough for any player to turn down.

Every time someone is linked to Chelsea, people on here say the usual "why would he go there?", "they're a basket case", "their manager changes every five minutes" etc etc and, guess what? Every player went there.

Man United are the same. Total shambles of an organisation, but it takes something quite remarkable to turn down a) the financial pull and b) the chance to pull on the shirt of one of the biggest clubs in the world (which United are, irrespective of the mess they're in).

Anyway, far too long a post given that this link is almost certainly total crud.

Brighton factually.....
I had a very vivid dream a few weeks ago that Lewis signed for Fulham, press conference and everything, when I woke up I checked the news I was that gutted.

Perhaps your sub-conscious is still living in 2015:

(What a bizarre episode)

I just don't see Utd going anywhere near a player like Dunk. Age profile doesn't fit what they say they are now targeting, they've just spent big money on a CB, and as much as we love Lewis Utd fans are likely to meet them signing him with derision at his age and relative lack of accomplishments.

Total wind up story imo .

Even Man Utd aren’t going to pay Dunk 3x his current salary are they? What’s he on with us? £80k? If so, 3x is £240k. I’d imagine they’d offer at most 1.5x his current salary. This is all pure guesswork.

Click bait transfer site, suffers huge drop off in clicks because transfer window closes

Advertisers start to leave

Click bait site makes up some nonsense

People on club messageboard spread rumour around and click on site

Advertisers happy again

I wouldn’t totally write it off. You never know, he might like to win something. Like it or not they have won cups the last 2 seasons and finished above us. Could be his last chance of silverware. Just saying.

No idea, just plucked a number out of the air to be honest. Suffice to say I don't expect it to be a pay cut going there

I just can’t see him upping sticks at this time of his career and family life. I’m sure he has other non football irons in the fire that will make him as wealthy as he needs to be. I think and hope he will see his career out with us.

For all their wealth and numerous analysts it's amazing that no wannabe title chasing clubs ever signed Lewis 2 or 3 years ago.
He would have been brilliant for a club like Manchester United or Chelsea.
Amazingly consistent, wonderful value for money and a player all fans would respect and enjoy playing for their team.

We're very fortunate to have had Lewis Dunk in our team for so long.
Probably our most influential player ever, and also a Sussex lad which increases the love.
He just gets on with it without any dramas.
Every coach would love a Lewis Dunk.

(p.s. he's going nowhere)
