Brain dead MUG SHEEP
I'm just far too fussy with my groceries to ever do home delivery. When it comes to the fresh stuff, I'm a feeler-squeezer-sniffer.
Which, I appreciate, renders my presence on this thread completely superfluous.

We used to use Sainsbury’s, but the replacements were out of control (once a pack of salami was swapped for a can of mackerel), currently Morrisons but as with all of them, everything fresh is short-date so I have to do a separate shop for bread, veg and fruit anyway.

Also when we used to shop online it was far too easy to over spend - I can't explain why going to the supermarket stops that over spend.
Oh, and I do 90% of the shop in Aldi who don't do home delivery.

Local delivery from coop - when I'm WFH and don't have time to get out to the shops.
Frequently have voucher codes for £5 off - no mark up on the prices.

Aldi for us too. I used to work very part time for Waitrose as a delivery driver and the management view was that “if Aldi did home delivery, they’d do it better than us”.

The thing I noticed with Tesco is the closet to the delivery date you do the shopping the more likely you are to get what you ask for.
If you do it a while before I don’t think they really know what will be in stock so the night before the delivery check your basket and anything you really want, if you can’t add more of it will probably not be delivered so swap for an alternative you want.

The only supermarket in Fav that does home delivery is Sainsbury.

Really? We find the exact opposite. Shopping online involves making a list, searching the item and buying it. In store we do the same, but have the added temptation of walking up and down the aisles going oh they look nice/oh haven’t had that for a while, and buying loads of things off-list.

Also have the ability to easily assess the best offers on the items you want.

Working in a supermarket I wouldn't trust any of the pickers I work with to do my shopping for me! Have always done it myself with a list and I see it as a challenge to try and do it as quickly as possible with no backtracking or dithering. Avoid the queues and use Scan as you shop too.

Another feeler-squeezer-sniffer here. Plus I tend to plan meals while I'm in the shop, If there's a special on leg of Lamb, we'll have a roast followed by lamb hot pot and I'll get Leeks, carrots and potatoes, or chickpeas and apricots for a tagine etc. My shopping list will often just say 3 dinners until I get there and see what looks good. And, as others have said, always buy the longest sell by dates

I find if your delivery comes from a dedicated "ghost" store/warehouse, 99% of the time there are no substitutions or replacements, in my case Tesco.
If I chose Sainsbury's it comes from the store down the road and is more subject to issues

I venture into Asda once a week to get my mothers groceries, i can’t stand old people fishing around the produce looking for long dates and disrupting the aisle’s, by the time they’ve made through the checkouts the stuff they’ve found is already out of date
Bit of both. Use delivery (Tesco) for a lot of staple items but not for things like fresh meat, fish etc which we’ll buy separately as needed. Pay £7 a month for the subscription service, means we can book a slot pretty much any time we want. It’s almost always bang on time and we rarely have anything substituted.
