Couldn't you get it printed and sell it yourself? Sounds like the sort of thing that would do well online and in the local area. Unless there is a bigger ambition than that?

It's not too hard to convert things into eBook formats as well.

I printed a small book of my Dads National Service memories using Kindle Direct publishing. You need to be carefull getting the formatting correct but the results are pretty good. Obviously Amazon take their cut, but he priced them so low that their cut was tiny.

I've written quite a few books but always worked with an agent and major publishers. Decent advances, no risk on my part really, apart from reputational!

A friend of mine used Amazon for publishing,and included a number of photos.
I have no idea of the cost (, sorry) but the quality is good.

I self-published a ski guide for my local area in Austria, working with a local printer. Although completely different subject matter, it was - like your book - a niche product. The most important step was marketing. I worked with the local tourist boards. I guess you would sell far more copies in the Brighton area than on Amazon, although you should also make it available there, and talk to the club.

If I was you I'd do a short print run then visit all local book shops offering them copies on sale or return.

Mine has just gone live on Amazon in 3 formats (kindle, paperback and hardback).
I’ve just done a launch on Facebook, together with a promo video and communique, which I can post on here if you’d like/I’m allowed?

I have written books before (two to be exact) but they were historical fiction and the publisher I have worked with isn’t interested in this as it’s understandably too niche!

So, my ask is, does anyone have any suggestion or connections as to how I could take this forward. I really don’t know where to start on this one. One thing it would clearly benefit from is some pictures to bring the narrative to life but again I don’t know how any of that would work.

Any or all suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance.

I wrote my story ...and published it on Amazon. It's dead easy to DIY. Only thing that's fiddly is formatting but Amazon help there too (well they tell you when not right!)

There's zero cost but Amazon do take a hefty whack on each one sold so don't expect to make much money. You can publish in hardback, paperback and ebook format

There's a whole load of tools on there to help with marketing/promotion but tbh I didn't read them and just relied on my own network and word of mouth. I'm sitting at just under 500 sold and still get 1 or 2 every month or so.

I also had 50 hardbacks printed myself just to fulfill my 'preorders'. Slightly more expensive but no Amazon commission. I can give you the printers name if you would like ... just pm me.
