I went to Haywards Heath v Newhaven. A fairly comfortable 2-0 win for the home team. I’ve seen them a few times this season and they play a lovely possession- based game and defend well (only one league goal conceded so far). Should probably score more goals but I think they will be title contenders

i went to Worthing to see a very drab 0-0 draw. Worthing had a lot of possession but no creativity. Hornchurch played deep and were happy with the point.

The new stand looks close to completion. It was quite congested with one side being closed.
The new stand reminded me of the temporary stands at Withdean, especially the steps up. Im sure once the roof is on it will look and feel a lot better. As for the match, I agree very dull. I think Worthing may struggle to make the play offs time round.

Little Common V Wick yesterday where as per usual for this time of the year the trees surrounding the park looked amazing

The game ended up with a 3-2 victory for Wick and LC rooted to the bottom of the SCFL premier division league table

Title contenders for sure, and in all probability Isthmian League bound in my opinion.

In fact Horsham YMCA are due to face them in the next few weeks, along with games versus the likes of Hassocks, Peacehaven and Nehaven, all fancied teams, and all during September. Going to be a difficult month!

Ground number 44 was Hailsham Town. They were up against Upper Beeding in the SCFL Division 2. You may (or may not) be wondering why I'm suddenly going to so many Upper Beeding games, well my nephew is "on loan" there from Steyning so I'm using that as motivation to go to a lot of the division 2 grounds.

Anyway, as division 2 grounds go this is probably the best (apart from Chichester B I guess) as, for a start it has 2 stands which is 2 more than most of their league rivals! To be honest it feels more like a Division 1 or maybe even Premier Division ground.

It's in a large sports ground which also houses a cricket club and tennis club. There was a cricket match going on at the same time with probably a bigger crowd than the football

They have proper old school turnstiles and in turn are one of the only division 2 clubs that charge entry (£3 but I imagine, judging by the hair colour, most would be paying the £1 concessions entry fee). You've got 2 stands, one is a fairly new seated one and the other is a covered standing area with a few rows. This also houses the hot drinks bar but more on that later ...

The clubhouse is pretty big. Quite old school but with that brings character. You've got 3 TV screens, dartboards and a pool table alongside tonnes of tables. Plenty of pictures etc on the walls as well- pretty good. Only thing letting it down is that they didn't have any beers on tap

The match started off quite even but UB were without a few players, can't remember his name but their best player apparently couldn't get there because he "couldn't afford it". The joys of division 2 football....

UB have a striker who I saw in a pre season friendly absolutely destroying Mile Oak but apparently he's just gone on holiday to Spain for two weeks and has come back desperately out of shape

The first half was mostly quite even but UB failed to really create any chances and, as expected, Hailsham went ahead on about 40 mins then doubled their lead just before the break

Half time meant one thing- the brown nectar. This was the proper stuff straight from the jar and it cost a mere £1 which is the joint cheapest thus far. The others in this price bracket have used the much cheaper granules. What also set this apart was it being served in a mug, as it was at Midhurst. I was very impressed with all of this as this is going to be pushing Worthing United for Bovril of the year (you may or not remember but Worthing United served me up with a PINT of Bovril for £1.50). We're definitely in Bovril season again weather wise so this was much needed

Anyway, the game was over by this point really. UB did very little positive and Hailsham managed to score twice more, 4-0 flattered the visitors really who collectively had a very poor game. Without showing bias my nephew was probably their best player in the middle of the park.

This is the best division 2 ground thus far. So I've done 44 of 57 and am about to have a week or so off. Basically I need to be keeping to an average of 4 a month now which is very doable.

Remaining is:

League One:
Crawley Town

SCFL Premier:
Saltdean United
Crawley Down Gatwick
Crowborough Athletic
Eastbourne United
Bexhill United

SCFL 1:
Mile Oak
Seaford Town
Uckfield Town

SCFL 2:
Rustington
Southwater
St Francis Rangers
Jarvis Brook

Went to Torquay v Welling on Saturday and witnessed this goal get called offside, figure that one out? Torquay lost 2-0 to two late goals, but I think if this went in they would have won, poor refereeing.

Also made the trip down to Littlehampton on Sunday to Witness another one of their Sunday Games, another good encounter for the third 3-2 in a row I've been to down there, as they beat Sporting Bengal United. In reality they should have scored more, so many wasted chances, which in turn let Sporting Bengal back into the game. FA Trophy draw today (I believe), and with Brighton not in action that weekend, hopefully a nice away trip for the Hawks (who also got a great result against Cray Valley PM) at the weekend. A bit of a loose end on Tuesday, so going to head to Ebbsfleet v Aldershot I think and get that ground ticked off. Only 5 left for me to do in the national league, so wouldn't mind getting that ticked.

Steynings torrid start to the season continues, 0-5 at home in the FA Trophy to Thame Utd. To be fair, both sides started the game well, decent football and a few chances, once Thame got their first goal they seemed go up a gear or two, they were pretty good to watch. Cracking away kit too.

Tomorrow night it's away at Littlehampton in the league, hoping for a change in fortune for the Barrowmen.

My understanding with the offside is that the AR thought 9 was in an offside position and made the defender play the ball…

Well that's another cup competion YMCA are out of, this time the Sussex Senior, at a very wet and windblown Shoreham last night. Can't quite make it out, we play well on a Saturday afternoon, but seem to struggle when games are midweek.

On a very wet rain sodden pitch we really did struggle to get our short passing game going, and we were basically beaten by a sronger and more dertmined side. Despite taking an early lead against the run of play, we were soon pegged back to 1-1, and were indebted to our young keeper to keep us in the game a few times. The winner duly arrived half way through the second half after a defensive mix up. We never looked like retrieving th game after that.

Oh well, onto Hassocks in the league on Saturday, now that is going to be an easy game . . . NOT!

Not strictly non-league but no doubt many on here have visited the Elite performance center for an under 21 match.

What’s the situation? They’re not strict on tickets right? I’m no longer an ST holder so would need to get the ticket from a mate but assume they don’t check against ID? If hassle I won’t bother

Great story.
Any Gloucestershire based Albion fans going to this?
I get up to Cleeve 3 or 4 times a season as live in Cheltenham but down in brighton this weekend.
Really have built well and moved up the divisions, shame in general the locals don’t get involved, average crowds around 100-125. Great pay-day tomorrow for them
