2-0 win for Hassocks, against infinity in their very lively kit. A game where not much happened other than two goals, and that was about it.

We had every right to feel aggrieved by the flag-loving lino in the first half; a series of utterly terrible offside decisions including one perfectly good goal chalked off.
2nd half we didn't turn up, and would have lost in normal time had it not been for the super human netstopping efforts of Toby Bull.
I didn't stay for the last 15 minutes and pens.
The BIG news is that they've proper tarted up the Rook Inn, with PROPER TAPS and everything. Also the kiosk behind the Philcox now has taps as well. Very exciting.

Crowborough 3-1 Newhaven
Only saw the last half an hour or so and the inordinate amount of stoppage time played so can only comment on that.
Pretty even game but Crowborough for a change looked the more likely to score. Was 1-0 when I arrived and stayed that way until about 10 from time. Adam Larkin who is only 17 and on loan from Tonbridge Angels U18s scored the second and looks like he is going to be a hell of a player. Alfie Lambden made it 3-0 in stoppage time before Newhaven got a consolation with pretty much the last kick of the game.

That’s my understanding.
A bit strange for Alfold to call it off. I have no insider knowledge but would presume it’s something to do with the manager being sacked and the fact they just lost to Reigate anyway at the weekend!

Last night I did ground number 43 of the year- Oakwood Park, home of Oakwood for their u23s against Loxwood u23s.
I've got a busy september so am having to squeeze in ground visits where I can, and have unfortunately run out of grounds that I can quickly nip to on a midweek evening. Therefore I found myself going "up north" to north Crawley last night for this one.
I actually realised that I'd played here when I was a kid over 20 years ago.
It's in quite a built up area, quite industrial I guess and is very close to Gatwick airport, but at the same time it's kind of in a residential area....I do find Crawley an odd place. You get to the ground via quite a long dirt track which gives it the feel of being in the absolute middle of nowhere. I wonder if the ground has been there for ages and everything else got built around it?
Anyway, there's yet another example of pitch side parking on 2 sides of the ground. Entry was £4 for this fixture.
The ground is alright for Division 1 actually. There's a small-ish fairly seated stand, it's kind of square shaped meaning the top row actually has quite a good view of the pitch. Then there's a covered area in front of the clubhouse, this has an array of random furniture- now I'm not sure whether they've intentionally created an outdoor garden vibe or they've just chucked out a load of chairs from the clubhouse....either way it works. Otherwise there's uncovered standing areas on that side and behind one goal.
The clubhouse is also quite decent considering it's in the arse end of Crawley. Quite big, loads of pictures etc on the walls and a good drinks selection and......BOVRIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the first cup of the brown nectar that I've had since Whitehawk in July (I'm not counting the stock cube in a cup that I had at Horsham YMCA). The weather has definitely turned and it was quite cold last night.

From what I’m hearing, with their ex-Albion player being sacked as manager, the players have left as well.
They are supposed to he at home to Montpellier Villa this weekend …
After my trip to Reigate @ Horley Town was called off, I decided to make the most of a free evening and go back to Chessington to watch Banstead play Midhust.
Apparently Banstead after hopeful to be back at their home in the early new year.
The game itself was not a good affair. I spoke to some of the Midhurst players, who had come up from the other side of Portsmouth, now that’s a journey!
About 30 in attendance.

Decided to go back to Alfold to find out what’s going on, as they hosted Montpelier Villa in a bottom of the table clash.
Alfold had 8/9 new players from when I was here a fortnight ago and their previous manager (and ex Albion player) Simon Funnell was sacked.
Alfold had 12 players and a stand in manager who had never taken a game before.
They won 3-1.
Alfold took the lead after 10 minutes but ‘Villa’, who have a contender for the best kit in the league, equalised almost immediately.
After the break Alfold retook the lead and were the better side. Villa were quite poor as was the standard of the game, with a lot of long balls and a total opposite to the very high standard I saw at Loxwood last week.
The Villa keeper was then sent off for foul and abusive language towards the Referee, he was joined after the game by a second Villa player being sent off for a second yellow for more afters towards the ref.
After Villa went down to 10, that was the end of the game as a contest and Alfold doubled their lead with 5 minutes to play.
Alfold have lovely clubhouse. I hope that they can get themselves sorted out, as there was serious talk of them not getting a side out today.
Attendance about 40.

Top of the tab clash and a game where 2 similar quality teams cancelled each other for large parts of the game. All three goals were quality when they arrived. 1st off Morgan Vale for Hassocks finding space in the channel and firing home a half volley that sat up well seeing the keeper out of position. Peacehaven equalised with a good freekick over the wall. Last minute and Darren Budd, who to be fair was lucky to still be on the pitch after several first half misdemeanours hit his own freekick which hit the base of the near post before rolling across the face and in at the far post.

Went to see Weymouth at Dorking Wanderers today. Got in half price with my Albion season ticket.
The Terras scored their first goals for over 550 minutes and won the game 2-1, picking up their first points of the season after losing 7 games on the spin! Onwards and upwards!!
