[Albion] Have we, at some point in our seasons in the EFL/EPL, occupied every position between 1-92?

Finally getting round to putting pen to paper regarding the Albion Fanzine culture/our rollercoaster ride in my 51 years watching the club, and wondered if we have actually occupied every position in 1-92 places in domestic football, and if we have, are we one of the few clubs that have actually done this?

For a start there can't be many teams in the top 2 Divisions who have been 92nd in the Football League at some point, maybe Burnley?

Is Tim Carder on NSC? (y)

I think we probably have occupied all positions. Luton Town could be another candidate. Also, Carlisle United- although they only had one season in the attic. But they were top at one stage.

If my cricket is rained off on Sunday I'll spend a couple of hours looking at it.

I would say that due to the sheer amount of positions available, it is incredibly improbable that we have, at some point, occupied every single one.

Bear in mind you are only really going back to 1958, when the four-tier structure was introduced.

It's an almost impossible question to answer, though, as 'as it stands' tables are not archived, unless they are available on something like Soccerbase?

Carlisle topped the old First Division on the second Saturday of the 74/75 season but they dropped like a stone and finished 22nd, can't imagine they went from 1 to 2 to 3 etc.

Luton is a great shout, but then again did they ever top Div One or the EPL?

Notts County, Oxford United or Oldham maybe?

It must be a fairly small group who have ever been 1st and 92nd. Carlisle, for sure. Swansea maybe? And possibly some of the others you mention.

Also in the 'old days' they were never published (certainly not in the newspapers) until at least three or four games had taken place on the grounds they were useless and no real guide.

All of the results are available so it's possible to calculate, but very time consuming. Maybe when I retire.. (add that to the list of things I'm putting off until I retire).

Yes, you could go through 50 years of old newspapers - but even that might not do it. What about midweek games, when they don't give an updated table? I always thought we had gone 5th when we beat Southampton away in a midweek game in December 1981. But on checking, it was only 6th (for a long time, our highest-ever 'as it stands' mid-season position).

See above - we have been 20th when in the old Division One (which had 22 teams).

Just far enough away from LDC
I'm gonna say that Burnley could also be a candidate for having done this. Of this was taken as 1-92 irrespective of break points for leagues (e.g. we haven't been 20th in epl but have been on old div1) then confident we will have achieved it
