@hans kraay fan club - I'm proposing a modification to the rules for this list whereby an Albion player who makes an appearance for his country WHILST AN ALBION PLAYER should take precedence over an individual who made his appearances either before or after his time at Albion. So, Yankuba Minteh should now be the list's representative for (The) Gambia rather than Mustapha Carayol. What say you?

In the interests of being pedantic, instead of MacAllister it should be Mac Allister.

Great.

Taking a look at the list, in addition to (The) Gambia, I think the other changes are:-

Australia - Maty Ryan
Belgium - Leandro Trossard
Colombia - Steven Alzate
Ghana - Tariq Lamptey
Ivory Coast - Simon Adingra
Nigeria - Leon Balogun
Romania - Tudor Baluta
Sweden - Viktor Gyokeres
Switzerland - Andi Zeqiri

I would suggest Georginio Rutter should replace Alexandre Frutos for France, as Rutter has at least appeared for the French under-age sides.

Obviously we would hope that over the next few months Ferdi Kadioglu (Turkey) and Matt O'Riley (Denmark) take their respective places on this list.

It is a bit bizarre that we have had two Senegalese players on the books but it looks as though neither will actually make a first team appearance in order to make it on to the list.

Thanks for these. I'll update it now. And add some RULES at the foot of the list.

I think you've made one (hugely uncharacteristic) mistake, though.

If I'm to replace David Gonzalez with a player, who featured for Colombia whilst with us, then surely Jose Izquierdo was the first?

Also - Matt O'Riley HAS made his Albion first team debut, and IS a fully capped Denmark international, so already outranks Casper Ankergren.

Explanation / rulings:
1. A player MUST have an Albion senior first team appearance, to qualify for entry.
2. Hierarchy of inclusion:
(a) The first player to gain a senior international cap for the respective nation, whilst an Albion player
(b) If no player meets (a) then a player capped at senior level at any point in their career
(c) If no player meets (a) or (b) then a player capped at any level, whilst an Albion player
(d) If no player meets (a-c) then a player capped at any level, at any point in their career
(e) If no player meets (a-d) then any player qualified (under FIFA regs) to play for the respective nation, can be listed.
(f) HKFC's decisions are final - but he's open to suggestion!

I know one Senegalese player is Sima, but who is the other one?

....
Oh - I wasn't aware that the FIRST Albion player to represent their country was a rule for the list - largely because the list contains multiple instances that DO NOT follow that rule.

However, I would agree that it probably SHOULD be a rule and as you have now officially invoked it, you need to make the following changes!

Catalonia - Martin Montoya
England - Tommy Cook
Israel - Jacob Cohen/Moshe Gariani (they both started the same match, against Sweden on Nov 12 1980)
Netherlands - Davy Propper
Scotland - Craig Mackail-Smith
Wales - Jack Jenkins

Ireland/Northern Ireland presents a bit of a conundrum due to the political changes over the years. I certainly don't want to open up a hornet's nest but I would suggest that the most sensible solution would be to regard "Ireland" as up to 1950 (when players were selected from the whole of the island of Ireland) and then The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland from 1950 onwards. Under that definition we have:-

Ireland - Charlie Webb
ROI - Joe Kinnear
Northern Ireland - Jimmy Magill

Bold = 05.09.24 edit, in adherence to rule update, that the FIRST players capped whilst an Albion player, should be recorded.
