Sounds like Leeds fans are all over the shop where Rutter is concerned. Some regret his departure, others don't.
I don't think they've ever really got over losing Bielsa and then the Jesse Marsch year in the wilderness.

Well forwards usually have a bit of a tax on them for being goal scorers. we have paid a lot of money for him so we must have a plan for him to fill a certain role and whatever that role is the club have deemed 40 million was worth it.

I had a similar conversation with a similarly real life Leeds fan. The one he’s gutted about losing is Archie Gray. Said of Rutter ‘he’s either brilliant or totally rubbish and there’s nothing in between’. He can’t believe we spent £40m on him.

Yes Leeds paid over £35m for him themselves.
Think that’s as much to do with heritage as potential……..it’s the equivalent (at least) of Hinshelwood leaving us
I get what you're saying but don't think it works like that.
Pretty sure Rutter isn't going to be a prolific goalscorer for us - but hopefully he'll still be very effective and well worth the £40m.
For context, Caicedo, Rice and Fernandez all recently went for over £100m and hardly ever score/assist.
This is going to be a brilliant season for anyone who really loves a good pile on. We have aquired so much attacking talent we can't possibly play them all, so someone has to "fail" and as we have such a long history of parsimony, they can only fail expensively.
It also must be said that us fickle supporters will be clamouring for some of the worldbeaters stuck on the bench to start the next game, as soon as we start losing. Can Hürzeler not see what we can see?
Watching Rutter's show reel, players seemed to bounce off him. He doesn't seem to have had that effect when wearing a Brighton shirt, in fact he has looked a little ackward and clumsy to me. I do look forward to seeing him play on the right with Minteh through the middle against a couple of carthorse centre backs trying to hold a high line. Then we will be able to judge the quality of his assists.

The works hard is a key thing. Always looking to press or get the ball back.

I'm so confused
I couldn't work out if you were carrying on the joke about him playing against Wolves (even though he is cup tied) or if you genuinely didn't realise. I still don't know but didn't mean to offend anyone.(But to explain: I "hoped you were joking" because - as has been pointed out many times, Rutter would not be able to play against Wolves because he is cup tied).

It's a bit early to form an accurate opinion of Rutter, but from I've seen so far, he seems big, strong and skillful. He glides past players. Reckon he might be decent for us, fingers crossed.
