I haven't had time to research this drone downing, but here's an alternative...
- Russian drone malfunctions or has it's nav disabled by Ukraine
- Belarus/Russia notice it's off course, and they agree for Belarus to shoot it down.

Is that possible or am I missing more detail somewhere 🤔
Yes, I think so. I remember a few months ago, there was talk of Ukraine changed the courses of a few Russian drones or missiles.

They may simply not of confidently known it was Russian or its intended target, and Russian or not they didn’t want to risk it hitting anything in Belarus. They take all sorts of bizarre routes to their targets to avoid detection. Standard behaviour for any country to shoot down anything in their airspace.

If you were Lukashenko, where would you run? Belarus somewhere? No. Russia? Er, maybe not. Is there any country that would give him safe haven?

Of course, you could replace Lukashenko with Putin in the sentence above. Any budding tyrants on this forum, note that this is how you will end up. Nowhere to go.
Africa. With access to loads of cash.

It is... although Poland hasn't yet (Russian drones crossing occasionally), and I think the jolly US has advised 'restraint' from Poland. I'm pretty sure I read that two days back...but I could be wrong and just in a bad mood!

I am confident, whatever the US say, any country would shoot down a missile entering their airspace, surely?

💯 it's like Bond villain type stuff.

Extremely dangerous.. Politicians here said his incendiary comments in riots were a trial run. I believe them

For those still on the X platform, I came off over a year ago. If you sign up to Mastodon or one of the other alternatives, most have bots set up that provide the same content as the tweets, but without being on X.

So for example, on Mastodon I follow the club, I follow Tendar etc, without having an X account.

It’s not perfect, threads become impossible to follow, and if you try to share content what you paste will link back to the original tweet on X, but you at least can get the headlines, and maintain a basic awareness of what’s going on without allowing Musk to claim that he has you on board.

I did look at it and bluesky, but i'm sticking on X for forseeable, just too many Ukraine accounts I follow that are there,........ wont pay a cent for anything to do with X thats for sure and it was particularly liberating to join the "Block Musk" movement a month ago, who have blocked him and his bullshit.

Russia is recruiting for its armed forces again.

After hiring convicts, and an assortment of Siberians, Africans, Indians, Nepalese etc, Russia is now seeking to get Siberia's homeless to sign up to fight in Ukraine.

You can draw your own conclusions.

I imagine the motivations are mainly 'money', 'some food', and a gun to the head. Also, if they are killed, their relatives will probably be untraceable thereby saving death in service payments. Win win.

If you're homeless in Angarsk (near Lake Baikal) then your quality of life won't be great. In winter, you have to be inside in a homeless shelter, or you die. Another benefit is it's well away from the Moscow and St. Petersburg chatterati.

The lengths Putin will go to, to avoid another unpopular mass mobilisation !

More on Putin's desperation: a propagandist, talking about Kursk, said 'everyone is taking up arms against the enemy'. Yeah, right. But translated, it means the Russian armed forces are struggling to repel the Ukrainians and are urging civilians to fight in their place.

In a Times Radio broadcast, an American war journalist said Ukraine are digging trenches and other defences in Kursk. They are there for the long haul.

Yes I'd read about the defensive lines Ukraine are making in Kursk 👍.
On the negatives, Russia is making slow but steady progress in Donetsk area 👎🏼

Yes, seems they are making slow but steady progress towards Kharkiv, very worrying.
