What an absolute load of shite from Lindsey.

Williams was proud of that challenge and found it funny. He wasn’t standing over O’Riley to see how he was, he was standing over him to gloat, grin and wink at our captain, Webster.

Just an attempt to try and halt the social media avalanche enveloping his nasty player. We can all see through his BS.
Did he think it was funny though or was he posing as a tough lad? Humans are a lot more complicated than people think.

Is this a good time to divulge that I suffered a broken ankle in my late 20s?

I only played football at a low level in the Sussex Sunday League. I did play again, after surgery, a long while later. But my ankle was never the same again.

I have no idea, other than the official statements, of the extent of O'Riley's injury, or whether it is similar or not to my own injury of 37 years ago.

Indeed they are - however, either scenarios make him look a bit of a ****, alongside the snide post from a certain Ms.Humphrey and the smugness of the fans.
Still, we're all complicated so there's a ready-made excuse for certain behaviour.

Quite probably nothing like it (heard somewhere it’s ligament damage not a break anyway) and medical treatment has possibly progressed somewhat………particularly if you have access to ‘money no object’ medics and facilities

Yes, all good points. I broke mine, it was pinned, the pin taken out around a year later, and it was - kind of - ok afterwards, without the flexibility I once had. Also, no doubt a huge difference between the NHS back then, and 'money no object' in elite pro football today. Also, I can remember in my head I gave up any thoughts of playing football again. It could/should be very different when it is your livelihood with access to training, medics, physios etc.

Not challenging what you say, but how confident are you it is ligament damage only?

When a picture says a thousand words…….

That picture is the key. The wink and smile suggest, at the very least, no remorse, no contrition, no concern for our player.

There is also a danger that people will be drawn into the damage limitation exercise that is in full swing at Crawley:

'Lack of skill doesn't excuse manhandling like that'. Translated, that says 'It was a mistimed tackle. A poor tackle but there was no intent'.

The picture tells a different story.

A single frame photo can imply something that didn't actually happen.
I daresay Ed Miliband is perfectly capable of eating a bacon sandwich, without looking like a total weirdo.

Not saying he didn't wink, but equally it could be a perfectly timed moment in time.
If anyone has a video of the moment, It could help to confirm Williams' precise level of cuntishness.

'Genuinely upset' or 'genuinely upset for the stick he's getting'?

Personally, I don't believe a single, solitary word that Scott Lindsay utters. It was a horror tackle, planned and pre-meditated to injure our player.
I'll just look at how Scott Livesay behaved during the game and after the final whistle. Awful man and that was a f***ing disgusting tackle. He got there 'slightly in front'? That is an insult to MOR. I'm not saying he wanted MOR to have surgery but he dived in and took everything he could when he was never going to get to the ball. ****.

Andrew Crofts knows Scott Lindsay and refused to shake hands with him. Crofts is a decent bloke and wouldn’t do that lightly.

So how do you explain the Hemed 'after the fact' 3 match ban? The ref saw it, gave a foul but not a card, and later there was retrospective action.

Hemed got his retrospective three-match ban before that nasty VAR came in, when there were rules allowing retrospective bans. Since that nasty VAR that causes all the problems in the game has come in, there are no retrospective bans.
This applies to the PL, where we have that nasty VAR, but I'm not sure of the rules in other competitions -- although multiple posters have posted links indicating that there are no retrospective bans in this cup.

Ffs Just drop it down a notch. Lindsay’s wife died of cancer @ 44 in 2019 and he has brought up 3 girls while trying to maintain a career in the mad f***ing football world. Awful tackle yes. Awful man… nah.

I think we sent Andone packing because it was a wild challenge that got him sent off and Potter didnt want a liability like him in the squad.
Thanks for pointing that out, even though I commented on him being sent packing after a shithouse tackle I never really understood why

What is the difference between didn't see it, and saw it bit didn't see it as a foul?

There are millions of voters who still don't see Johnson or Corbyn as being shit.

The eyes moved and the mouth flapped open but Mr Brain had long since departed.

I had never heard of him till this match, never heard him speak until the interview so I cannot comment on his private life or his general character. However, I can comment on the person I saw being interviewed and my reaction was what a cock head.

My guess is that their manager sent them out with instructions to rough our players up a bit at the start, not realising or understanding that a mindless thug like Jay Williams would hear "go out there and cause a serious injury to someone". That would make them both responsible imo. But like most of us here, I'm just guessing.
